PHYSIOLOGICAL ACTION
OF TANLAC EXPLAINED
-mm?
World’s Leading Authorities Show Just What Tanlac Real
ly Is and Explain Effect of Each of Ten Ingredients
on the Human System. Power of Medi
cine Conclusively Proven.
A day never passes but what thou sands of people ask the questions:
What is Tanlac? Why its phenomenal success? Why do we hear so much
about it? and Why has this preparation so far outstripped all other medi.
cines of its kind?
The answer to these questions is easy and can be explained in just one
wor( j—merit. Tanlac is scientifically compounded and represents years of
work, study, experimentation and research by some of the foremost chem
ists and pharmacologists of America.
cheaper. Every pound contains
more than 3 ounces of protein, the
chief material for body building.
The Tanlac formula is purely ethical
and complies with all National and
State pure food laws. It is purely
vegetable and is made from the most
beneficial roots, herbs and harks known
to Materia Mediea. The Tanlac Lab
oratories are among the largest and
most modernly equipped in this coun
try.
Ten Ingredients in Tanlac.
Altogether, there are ten ingredients
in Tanlac, each of- which is of recog
nized therapeutic value.
In referring to one of' the more im
portant ingredients of Tanlac, the En
cyclopedia Brittanica says:
’ “It has been the source of the most
valuable tonic medicines that have
ever been discovered.”
In referring to other of the general
tonic drugs contained «in Tanlac, the
13th Edition of Potter’s Therapeutics,
a standard medical text-book, states
that “they impart general tone and
strength to the entire system, including
all organs and tissues.”
This same well-known authority in
describing the physiological action of
still another of the ingredients of Tan
lac, which is of value in treating what
is commonly known as a “run-down
condition,” uses the following expres
sion : -
“It is highly esteemed in loss of ap
petite during convalescence from acute
diseases.”
There are certain other elements in
Tanlac which, because of their influ
ence upon the appetite, digestion, as
similation and elimination, improve the
nutrition and vital activity of all the
tissues and organs of the body and
produce that state of general tonicity
which is called health.
The United States Dispensatory
makes the following comment regard
ing another ingredient:
“It may be used in all cases of pure
debility of the digestive organs or
where a general tonic impression is
required.”
There are certain other ingredients
described in the Dispensatory, and in
other standard medical text-books, as
having a beneficial action upon the or
gans of secretion, whose proper func
tioning results in a. purification of the
blood streams passing through them.
In this manner, objectionable and poi
sonous Ingredients of the blood are
removed and the entire system invig
orated and vitalized.
Tonic and Body Builder.
Tanlac was designed primarily for
the correction of disorders of the stom
ach, liver and bowels. At-the same
time, however, it is a powerful recon
structive tonic and body builder, for
it naturally follows that any medicine
that brings about proper assimilation
of the food and the thorough elimina
tion of the waste products must, there
fore, have a far-reachiqg and most
beneficial effect upon the entire sys
tem.—Adv.
Jellies.
Pour over cottage cheese any fruit
preserves, such as strawberries, figs,
or cherries. Serve with bre^d or
crackers. If preferred, cottage-
cheese balls may be served separate
ly and eaten with the preserves. A
very dainty dish may be made by
dropping a bit of jelly into a nest
of the cottage cheese.
Cottage-Cheese Salad.
Mix thoroughly 1 pound of cheese,
1 % tablespoonfuls of cream, 1 table
spoonful of chopped parsley, and
salt to taste. First fill a rectangular
tin mold with cold water to chill
and wet the surface; line the bottom
with waxed paper; then pack in
three layers, putting two or three
parallel strips of pimento be
tween layers. Cover with waxed
paper and set in a cool* place until
ready to serve; then run a knife
around the sides and invert the
mold. Cut in slices and serve on
lettuce leaves with French dressing
and wafers. Minced olives may be
used instead of the parsley, and
chopped nuts also may be added.
Cheese Sauce.
1 cupful milk.
1 tablespoonful cottage cheese.
2 tablespoonfuls flour.
Salt and pepper to taste.
Thicken the milk with the flour
and just before serving add the
cheese, stirring until it is melted.
This sauce may be used in pre
paring creamed eggs or for ordinary
milk toast. The quantity of cheese
in the recipe may be increased, mak
ing a sauce suitable for using with
macaroni or rice.
CORD TIRES
Now Selling at the Lowest
Price Level in Tire History
It is also a valuable source of energy,
though not so high as foods with
more fat. It follows that its value
in this respect can be greatly in
creased by serving it with cream, as
is so commonly done.
Cottage cheese alone is an appe
tizing and nutritious dish. It may
also be served with sweet or sour
cream, and some people add a little
sugar, or chives, or chopped onion,,
or caraway seed.
The following recipes illustrate a
number of ways in which cottage
cheese may be served:
