a three weeks’ motor trip through Ken

Picnic to Nance’s Spring.

Methodist church enjoyed an af-
on picnic Tuesday at Nance’s
Emmie Kaphan, of Atlanta. The con
solation, a hand-painted fan, was cut
by Miss Nettie McDaniel.
After the interesting games, a salad
course, followed by an ice, was served
at the card tables.

Mrs. J. P. Herndon and Mrs. C. L.
Hamilton entertained Tuesday evening
at a Moonlight picnic at Nance’s Spring,
the affair complimenting Mrs. F. K.
McCutchen’s guest Mrs. Robert Has
lett, of Atlanta.
The crowd went by automobile to the
spiring where a delicious picnic lunch
was enjoyed, and, after remaining for
a while there, returned home by moon
light. There were fourteen guests to
meet the honor guest.

Caylor-Kirby.
A wedding which came as a pleasant
surprise to many, was that of Miss
Evelyn Caylor to Mr. William Kirby,
of Chatsworth, which occurred at 3:30
o’clock Sunday, July 24, at the home of
the bride.
The home was' artistically decorated
in ferns and white lilies. Miss Louise
Vining. of Chattanooga, softly played
“I Only Know I Love You.”
The bride was beautiful in a suit of
gray taffeta, with a gray hat.
The ring ceremony was impressively
said by Rev. Mr. Green, of Vamells.
There were about fifty of their friends
present to witness the ceremony.
Mrs. Kirby is a beautiful and at
tractive daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.
W. Caylor. and has hosts of friends
and admirers in Dalton.
Mr. and Mrs. Kirby are now at home
with Mr. Kirby’s mother at Chats
worth. They have the best wishes of

IS SERIOUSLY HURT
Fell from Merry-Go-Round Tuesday
in an Atlanta Park
Charles Smith, Jr., young son of Mr.
and Mrs. Charles Smith, was seriously
injured Tuesday afternoon when he
fell from a merry-go-round in an At
lanta amusement park. He was ren
dered unconscious and taken to an At
lanta sanitarium. Miss Catherine Fer
guson, a niece of the little fellow, left'
here this morning (Wednesday) for
Atlanta.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith were spending
the day in Atlanta, and were about
ready to leave the park to catch a train
back to Dalton when the accident oc
curred. Information received this morn
ing is that the little fellow is in a
critical condition and it will be 48 hours
before the attending doctors can say
whether he can get well. Many friend
will hope for his early recovery.
Tie crowd left here in an automobile
net and drove to McLellan’s spring,

pes were enjoyed, later returning
