ANDERSON DENTIST Office Over Fincher & Nichols Drug Store Office Hours: ' a.m to 12 m. 1 p.m. to 5 p.m We, the undersigned committee ap pointed to draft resolutions of sympa thy on the death of Miss Emma Sims, sister of our esteemed brother, Vice- Councilor John Sims, beg to submit the following: Whereas God, in His infinite wisdom and tender mercy, has seen fit to re move from this world of sin and pain to a brighter home beyond the grave the spirit of his dear sister, we feel that the parents have lost an obedient daughter, and the brothers a kind and loving sister and the community a good Christian woman who numbered her friends by her acquaintances. Therefore, be it resolved, That we bow our heads in humble submission to the will of the Grand Councilor above who doeth all things well, and that we comfort our brother with the assurance that all is well with his sister. Be it further resolved, That we ex tend our deepest sympathy to our broth er in his hour of grief. Mrs. Oliver and Miss Mattie Lou Palmer spent Saturday in Dalton. Mrs. Ora Wiggins and son returned home Sunday from a week’s visit with relatives here. Miss Ennie Mullins, of Dalton, was the guest of Mr. A. B. Mullins Satur day. night and Sunday. Mr. Sam Ray and Miss Mary Robin son spent last Friday in Dalton. Mrs. S. E. Reduced Railroad All Lines preached a very interesting sermon, which was enjoyed by all present. Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Moore and chil dren, of Silverdale, Tenn., .spent Sat urday at R. C. Jay’s. Misses Emma Stephens, Annie and Florence Sisk, of Mt. Vernon, took dinner with Misses Exa and Robbie Stanfield Sunday. Mrs. Alfred Reed, of Dunegan, is spending a few days with her daugh ter, Mrs. Louis Westbrook. Mr. A. J. Roberson and family, of Mt. Vernon, spent' Sunday with J. C Jay. Mr. J. F. Burns, of Alachua, Fla., has been visiting relatives at this place. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Westbrook are the proud parents of a big boy. Several from Mt. Vernon attended church at this place Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Jay spent Mon day in Dalton. Mr. John Rogers, of Tunnel Hip, spent Monday with his niece, Mrs. J. C. Jay. Miss Gertrude Rogers, of Mt. Vernon, spent Saturday night and Sunday with Miss Callie Mae Massengill. Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Whitmire-and Miss Mary Roberson, of Rocky Face, attended church at this place Sunday. WARING GOLD MEDAL A shadow of sorrow was cast over the little town of Varnell and the sur rounding community when news reach ed here that Mr. Cecil .Powell, of Fort Bayard, New Mexico, was dead. Mr. Powell lived at Varnell until a few months ago when he moved with his people to Ooltewah, Tenn.; but in a short time he left for New Mexico for his health.
