more than 75 per cent of its own pro

from its local, out-of-town, and out-of-

it has helped to make them home own

Came from Little Rock.
“It was at this juncture that I came
to Birmingham from Little Rock,
where I had lived for about 25 years,
to take over the branch concern and
get it going. I arrived on a bad driz

old rattle trap buildings with their
dirt and rotten floors came mighty
near chilling my enthusiasm.
“I found that one of the 25-foot
storerooms was sufflcently large for
my purposes and so sublet the other
one. The business was begun in a

Birmingham is growing so rapidly
that it is impossible to keep up with
those who come here to make their
home. Men come and slip into their
places, unnoticed.
Just a few years ago a man came
to Birmingham to open a business and
those, who thought they knew, warned
him that he was going to a graveyard.
It was before America went into the
war, and business conditions were un
settled.
But Duff Green, general manager
