ed By the Town Council of
Kastman, March Sd, 1873.
Be it ordained by the Mayor and Council
ol the town ot Eastman, that for the purpos
of raising a revenue, to meet the expenses of
the town for the present year, the tixe
hereafter mmol sir 11 be le/ie lou md cl

making returns, shall be observed:
Ist. It shall bo the duty of all p rsons own
ing or controling prop n’t y subject to taxation
of any kind, to report either personally or by
agent, to the Clerk of Council, and rdur i un
der oath the value of all such property, on or
before the first day of April next.
All who fail or refuse to m ike returns as
hereby required, or making returns and falling
to pay by the appointed time, shall be doull
taxed.
The following shall bo the rite of license :
Be it ordained, That from and ait. r the Ist
day of April next, each dealer in spiritous
liquors of Lss than thirty .30 g. lions, shall
pay per annum SSO 00 and tees.
Each dealer in spiritous liquors of thirty 30
gallons and upward, shall pay $lO 00 and fees.
Each deal i in each lawyer or
physician, or denti&t and artist, shall pay p r
annum $5 00.
Each billiard table and each vendue master
shall pay per annum $lO 00.
Each proprietor of steam mill shall pay per
annum $25 00.
Each circus company shall pay per day
$25 00.
Each slight-01-hand performance, or each
magician, ami each showman of any otli r
name or style, shall pay such fee as the M iyor
may demand, except they perform lor litv r rv
or charitable purposes for the town ov county.
Each public hotel shall pay p r annum 310 00.
Each printing press sh; 11 pay per

Each tin shop shall pay per annum 35 00

The tax on real estate shell be one-half ol
one per cent, on the sworn value tlier of.
The tax on personal property shall be one
tentli of one per cent, on the sworn value
thereof, both real and personal tax to be col
lected on or before the Ist day ol November.

The tax on the gross sales of nil goods,
; wares, and merchandise, shall be one-lentil ol
i one per cent., to be paid quart* lly, said qu r
teis to end the last of March, June, September
j and December, unless said day shall be the

There may be levied on all persons subject
to street duty fifteen days’ work per annum, or
a commutation tax of sixty-six and two-thir.ls

Ordinance 2d. No deadly weapon shall, at
any time, be raised against the person ol any
one, except in sdi-defense, witntin the cor
por ition; but this Ordinance ah.. 11 not apply
to the Marshal < r his Deputies in the execu
tion of their duties.
Ordinance 3 d. No person sh 11 be allowed to
ride or drive anim Is within the corpcr 3ion
at an unusual rite of speed, except in cases
of actu..l necessity.

protect said tree by a box not Lss than six

state of intoxication on that day outsid;
