BAZEMORE ACADEMY.
Last Thursday night one of the
most delightful entertainment was
given by the pupils of Bazemore
Academy under the direction of Miss
Mattie Watts, of our little city.
The exercises began at eight and
lasted until half past eleven o’clock,
and were enjoyed by every one pres¬
ent as every pupil acquitted himself
with ease and perfection.
We received the full program but
our space being limited we cannot
print it, as much as we would desire
to. The whole school acquitted
themselves in a most charming and
creditable manner, and Miss Watts
demonstrated that she is a teacher
far above the average.
On Monday afternoon before the
entertainment Miss Watts had four
judges to test the members of two
reading classes on sight reading.
The first prize was given to Miss
Willa Evans, and the second to Mr.
Zellie Chancellor. The penmanship
prize was awarbed to Miss Anna
Laurie Wooten.
