Is Supposed to Have Caused the
Death of a Negro Baby.
Last Tuesday Sheriff Newton and
Coroner Britt received word that an
e lcven months old negro baby belong
! ing to Bettie Flower, who lives near
Higgins mill, had died under suspi¬
cious circumstances. It seems that
the baby had been all right at noon,
hut during the afternoon when the
mother returned from tin* field sin*
hnmd her baby de/id, and having left
t,ie child perfectly well in the care of
^ iola Davis, suspicion was at once
arroused that everything was init¬
j and, square. in The coroner with the was sheriff, summoned they
j ! company
brought the dead baby to town and,
! after empaneling a jury which, after
hearing the evidence, brought in a
verdict of death from causes un¬
known.
It seemed that it was impossible to
get evidence against anyone, if there
had been foul play, for the testimony
given by each witness was the same
and the whole affair looked as if the
case had been “cut and dried.”
The case looks a little peculiar,
anyhow, for if there had been grounds
to warrant an inquest, a, doctor should
have been called to make an exam¬
ination, which we understand was
not done.
HOW TO FIND OUT.
Fill a bottle or common glass with
urine and let it stand twenty-l'our
hours ;a sediment or settling indicates
a diseased condition of the kidney /
When urine stains linen it ispositrv Ct>
evidence of kidney trouble. Too fre¬
quent desire to urinate or pain in the
back is also convincing proof that
the kidneys and bladder are out of
order.
WHAT TO DO.
There is comfort in the knowledge
so often expressed, that Dr. Kilmer’s
Swamp-Root, the great kidney rem¬
edy fulfills every wish in relieving
pain in the back, kidneys, liver, blad¬
der and every part of the urinary
passages. It corrects inability to
hold urine and scalding pain in pass¬
ing it, or bad effects following use of
liquor, wine or beer, and overcomes
that unpleasant necessity of being
compelled to get up many times
during the night to urinate. The
mild and the extraordinary effect of
Swamp-Root is soon realized. It
stands the highest for its wonderful
cures of the most distressing cases.
If you need a medicine you should
have the best. Sold by druggists,
