The revenue officer* made a raid in the eaelern part of the on Friday night, but Mon roe ’ g moonshiners were too smart for the blockade destroyers and not only made good their own es cape but carried their Still away j to parts unknown. All that the officers brought back with them was a barrel of Q^rt) whiskey some ten or fifteen gallons—left in possession of Con¬ stable Letson. The Dairy Cow. The dairy cow does more than bring financial success to the dai ry farmer. She makes him a bet ter citizen than he would other- I j wise be. Her influence upon home conditions is a most pleasing con¬ tribution to those factors which are responsible for the changed conditions winch prevail in the farm homes of today. Thousands of these homes are now character¬ ized by comfort and happiness where formerly they were blighted by drudgery and unhappiness. Better financial conditions have contributed to this change, and the dairy cow lias been in no small measure responsible. She has contributed m still another way. file dairy cow teaches kindness. Her owner soon learns that only by*treating her kindly can he se¬ cure the highest possible returns from her, and she responds quick¬ ly to kind words and proper care. Her disposition is one that /the human family might well emu¬ late. She is patient and long suf¬ fering, acquiescing mutely in the arrangements made b v her owner for carrying on business, striving at all times to repay him for every effort for her care and comfort. The mom hers of the family, as come in contact with her and her kindly disposition, are influ¬ for good As they appre¬ the financial benefit to come curing for her well they u deeper interest in her. In so they unconsciously cul¬ those qualities which make better citizens. The dairy cow—the prototype man’s best, friend—is wielding greater influence than she is credited with. She has been found in the front in the march of civilization no agricultural country can prosper without her. She is potent factor in the upbuilding such a prosperous country, fi¬ and socially, and a people will appreciate her encourage the industry of she is the foundation. VC .4RC TH.MKFUL.
