MR. F. H. WADLEY MAKES RE
PLY TO COMMISSIONERS CARD
To the people of Monroe county:-
The Grand .Jury, of which J was
a member, in performance of its
sworn duty, called attention to cer
tain irregularities in the work of the
County Commissioners
Instead of accepting the findu g.*'
of the Jury, which wore made in
good faith, and in the interests of
public welfare, these Commission
ers have seen fit to publish a so-call
ed defense, which consists or a ti
rade particularly directed at me, in
which it is claimed that when a
Commissioner, I violated the law in
my acts, and that 1 am now investi
gating this criticism out of malice.
It is sufficient reply to the card
of the Commssioners to say that
♦luring my term of office, the Grand
Jury bad opportunities to investigate
my work, and to correct abuses or
carelessness. That in the Jury
failed to perform its duty, I have no
right to believe, and I have yet to
hear my acts were called in ques
tion by that body, it is therefore un
necessary to discuss this personal
phase of the Commissioners’ letter
addressed to the people of Monroe
County.
It will be a black day for us all
when a properly constituted body,
such as the Grand Jury, cannot in
vestigate the conduct of the county
w’ork, and its officers and present
its findings without being subjected
either as a whole or as individuals
to such a malevolant attack as has
been put forth by the present board
in justification of its irregularities.
The people of this county have the
information before them and can sit
in judgment on the reasonableness
of the Grand Jury’s findings and the
necessity therefor.
Very Respectfully,
adv. F. H. WADLEY.
CITROLAX
Users say that it is the ideal, per
fect laxative drink. M. J. Perkins,
Green Bay, Wis., says: “1 have used
pills, oils, salts, etc., but were all dis
agreeable and unsatisfactory. In
Citrolaz I have found the ideal laxa
tive drink." For sick headache, sour
stomach, lazy liver, congested bowels,
Citrolax is ideal. For sale by all

DOVE SEASON BEGINS ON NOV.
20TH.
Mr. C. M. Hooks, the County War
den is in reeeiptof thef olio wing let
ter from the State Fish and Game
Commissioner, stating that the sea
son tor shooting doves does notbe
gin until November 20th.
Dear Sir.
Some persons are under the im
pression that the open season for
shooting doves waschanged by the
last Legislature, and that doves
could be shot legally after August 1.
This is a mistake. No change has
been made and the open season for
dove shooting does not begin until
November 20th.
Let it be known that you will re
quire every one who hunts topurchase
n license, except those who hunt on
their own land or in the militia dis
trict in which they live.
It requres a license to hunt rab
bits, foxes or other animals, ex
cept as above stated, as well as for
hunting birds.
It is m>t legal to sell a County
license to a person who is not a resi
dent ot the county in which the li
cense is issued.
Yours verv trulv,
CHAS. L. DAVIS,
Commissioner.

'meeting of the
B. T. C. ALUMNAE.
An association of great impor
tance and from which influences
more lasting and far-reaching than
we dare dream may be felt, was the
meeting of the Bessie Tift Alumnae
in the College parlors on Monday
afternoon.
Realizing what a live, active band
of Alurnnae will mean to the College
—the first chapter of Bessie Tift
Alumnae was organized by the For
syth graduates of this institution.
The organization not to be an or
ganization in name only, but a stud
ious, influential, wide-awake body of
women, ready and willing to assist
the College workers in every way
possible and ready to “back up” any
and every movement for a greater
Bessie Tift.
Everyone in Forsyth and Monroe
county, who has ever been a pupil
1 at the College, as well as the grad
-1 uates, is eligible to membership and
surely all of these will be interested
in this movement, which is to help
others enjoy the privileges and op
portunities she herself has enjoyed.
The organization is to be perfect
ed Saturday afternoon, September,
19th, at four o’clock, in the office of
1 Miss Phelps, at the College. Will
you not come and have a part in this
beginning of a new chapter in the
life of the old College?
Stop That First Fall Cough.
Cheek your fall cough or cold at
once —don’t wait —it may lead to ser
ious lung trouble, weaken your vital
ity and develop a chronic lung ail
ment. Get a hottie of Dr. Bell’s Pine-
Tar-Honey to-day; it is pure and
harmless —use it freely for that fall
cough or cold. If Baby or Children
are sick give it to them, it will relieve
quickly and permanently. It soothes
the irritated throat, lungs and air
passages. Loosens Phlegm, is anti
septic and forifies the system against
colds. It surely prevents cold germs
from getting a hold. adv.
