Mrs. H. H. Hardin motored to At
lanta Wednesday, accompanying Nat
Hardin who was leaving to spend sev
eral weeks at a summer camp.
Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Giddens an
nounce the birth of a daughter on
Wednesday, July 2. The young lady
has been named Mary Frances.

On July 4th, little Miss Sara Jane
Phinazee complimented her small
guests, Sarah Forehand and Billie
Forehand, of Sylvester, with an af
ternoon picnic near Indian Springs.
With a delightfully filled basket and
accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Ashley
Phinazee and their guest, Miss Julia
Phinazee, the party motored to In
dian Springs and later enjoyed the
lunch spread in the woods.
The Y. W. A. of the Forsyth Bap
tist Church held,the July meeting on
Thursday afternoon at the church.
1 The meeting was under the direction
■ of the Counselor, Mrs. R. L. Brant
ley, and Miss Claire White, the pres
, ident had charge of the program.
The subject for the afternoon was
with Christ on the Highway, and
those taking part were Miss Evelyn
Anderson, Miss Amanda King and
Miss Mattie Grant.
The July meeting of the Forsyth
Woman’s Club was held on Tuesday
afternoon in the chapel of Bessie Tift
College. The afternoon’s program
was an organ recital by Mrs. C. F.
Heard. Mrs. Heard is a talented pi
anist and organist, and her appear
ance on any program is always greet
ed with delight. She was especially
good on this occasion, giving an hour
of rare pleasure to the members of
the club and a number of visitors.
Her program was as follows:
1. Concert Overture in B. minor
—James H. Rogers.
2. Wind in the Pines—Clokey.
3. The Swan—Saint Saens.
4. Dreams—Staughton
5. Minuet in A.—Boccherine
6. Toecato—James H. Rogers
7. By the Waters of Minnetonka

As an encore. Mrs. Heard played
I “Mighty Lak a Rose”, dedicating this
number to her own small son, who
was one year old on this day.
Following the program a short
business session was held after which
the members and visitors gathered
on the lawn where delicious sand
wiches and punch were served by the
hostesses, Mrs. W. B. Tatum, Mrs.
Cary Bittick, Mrs. W. D. Waller,
Mrs. Albert Searcy and Miss Juliette
Rutherford.
EMMA AMOS CIRCLE
The July session of the Emma
Amos Circle was held at the home of
Mrs. John T. Stephens with twelve
regular members present and one vis
itor. Several of our staunch mem
bers were missed from our ranks,
some having moved away, others out
of town for the summer months. Dur
ing Mrs. Walker’s absence, Miss Mae
Cabaniss read the minutes also let
ter of thanks from W. M. S. for the
new velvet draperies around the choir
loft and organ bench recently given
by the Emma Amos Circle. Mrs.
Charlie Heard, always generous with
her talent, gave us three lovely piano
selections, which were followed by a
timely and practical devotional by
Mrs. Stokes. All members entered
heartily into our study of tenth and
eleventh chapters of Proverbs. We
all resolved to adhere to Solomon’s
warnings and be more careful of our
lips. At the conclusion of our study
light refreshments were served.
ROYAL PALM CAFE WILL
INSTALL SODA FOUNTAIN
A modern soda fountain will be in
stalled at the Royal Palm Case at an
early date. The fountain has been
ordered and it is expected that it will
be delivered next week. There has
been a considerable demand for such
an accommodation on the part of
tourists, and for this reason the man
ager of the case decided to make this
addition to the plant. The fountain
will be operated in accordance with
the city regulations in all respects
and the usual rules in connection
with Sunday Opening and closing will
be observed.
FORSYTH LIONS CLUB WILL
MEET FRIDAY EVENING
The next meeting of the Forsyth
Lions Club will be held Friday even
ing at 6:80 o’clock. A good program
is in prospect, with the main address
by Dr. A. Chamlee, and a full at
tendance of the members is desired.
