VOLUME SEVENTY-SIX
lo Prospective Gas Users
From Louisiana to Forsyth is a pretty big jump, yet in a few days we will be cooking and heating with fuel that
comes direct by pipe line from that far away State.
This is indeed a wonderful engineering achievement and we are indeed gratified to know that it will soon be a
reality. In this connection, we wish to announce that you will find here a complete stock of gas appliances of all
kinds, including Gas Ranges, Gas Cooking Stoves, Gas Heaters, Gas Logs, Gas Water Heaters and Bath Room
appliances.
Our prices on the full equipment will be extremely low and we expect to handle a line that has the stamp of ap
proval of the “AGA” (American Gas Association). Look for and insist that this sign is stamped on every ap
pliances.
We gladly await an opportunity to serve our friends in this community and we thank you in advance to give us
a chance to “Save You Money.”
♦
A phone call will bring our representative to your home to estimate your requirements. Phone 75.
All Gas Ranges are priced completely installed. NO CHARGE FOR PIPE OR LABOR.

Natural gas is now an actuality in
Forsyth, coming through an artery
of pipes from the gas fields <of Louis

were put to that part of the work
Monday, the piping crew of the
Georgia Natural Gas Co. leaving
for other fields of labor on that day.
The crew which installs the lines and
appliances for the use of gas in
the homes was expected to take up
their duties here this week and a con
siderable number of Forsyth citizens
will begin te use natural gas.
Natural gas was turned on in For

TUCKER CORRECTS
ERRONEOUS REPORT
To Whom It May Concern: I have
been advised that there is a report
current to the effect that I advised
the Georgia Natural Gas Corporation
that $2.00 per day would be good
pay for common labor and that a
higher wage would interfere with the
city labor scale. I have never been
approached or consulted by local or
Birmingham representatives of the
Natural Gas Corporation in regard to
prices for labor and have never given
the corporation advice as to wage
scales in any shape, form or fashion.
Any report to the effect that I have
done so is a wilful misrepresentation.
Respectfully, E. 8, TUCKER.
I the city hall when a tall pipe was
। erected and the gas lit there. A large
I number of interested citizens gather
|ed to observe the flare of the burning
gas, having been summoned by the
[ sound of the city siren.
The first gas jet was lit by Mr.
i O-. T. McComon, mayor pro tern, who
either through too much eagerness or
too little experience held his winsome
, countenance dangerously near the
r gas jet when he applied the match.
. There were no serious consequences,

iCITY TAX RATE IS
! REDUCED BY COUNCIL
' j At a called meeting held Monday
I night the council of the city of For
syth took up the consideration of the
tax rate for the ensuing year and
voted to reduce the tax rate one mill.
While the tax rate has thus been re
duced the valuation on property has
not been increased.
| The citizens of Forsyth will be
gratified to learn of this action on
the part of the city and the reduction
of the tax rate is evidence that we
have an economical administration.

The citizens of Monroe county will

of interest on high school bonds, there
is a reduction of one mil) in the levy
for public improvements and a reduc
