GAINESVILLE MIDLAND IS
BUILDING NEW DEPOT.!
$15,000 Structure to be Built Opposite O'd
Station —Midland and Northwestern
Will Use it Jointly.
The Gainesville Midland Railway
broke dirt early Monday morning,
beginning the erection of a mag
nificent twe-story brick structure to
be used for the general offices —
waiting rooms, the freight depot
I and warehouse being separate.
Mr. Levi Prater has been engaged
to oversee the work. The Midland
decided not to let the work out by
contract, but to get an able super
visor. and that it will be done prop
erly under Mr. Prater s supervision
goes without the saying.
: It i-estimated that the building
will cost in the neighborhood of
sls.i Htp.
This is an improvement that has
long been needed, and the manage
ment is to be congratulated upon
this move. The Midland has done
much toward the growth of Gaines
ville, especially since running
through to Athens, and with the
Gainesville and Northwestern open
ing up the North Georgia lumber
district, there is no reason why
Gainesville should not take on new
life and make greater strides in the
next decade than she has ever done
in the past.
The Eagle commends the man
agement of the Midland Railway
upon giving Gainesville a new
station.
