On last Monday afternoon while Mr. T.

this place, were at their gin house, a negro
man went to Mr. T’s dwelling and told his
daughter that her brother had sent for his
shot gun to kill a hawk. The gun was de

lie returned saying the gun sent was out of
order and she must send the rifle and pis

Ilealli is always sad—sad in the grey and
blushing light of morning’s early dawn ;
sad in the full vigor of manhood’s meridian
sun ; sad in the mellow light of autumn’s
sere and yellow leaf; sail in the sombre
shades of approaching night. But when
those to whom we look for counsel and ad
viee, in whom we have trusted and found
true, who have been prominent in works of
benevolence and moral and civil advance
inputs are taken, it is especially sad. But
while the heart is almost crushed with its
sorrow, and the eye cannot rest rain its tears,
the Great Master speaks and we bow with
submission to His divine will, for the Lord
give and the Lordtaketli away.
Death has again entered our ranks, and
we mourn the loss of one who was among
the first to enter our Order, who has ever
been to it since, a faithful friend, a wise
nuugeler, a safe adviser, an earnest work
er and a well beloved ’brother, James fe.
lartis no more. Therefore.
Rtxolved, That we mourn the ile.itli o!
• i:r brother, and believe he lias exchanged
a I le of pain, trouble and sorrow for one of
eternal bliss. Yet we cannot blit feel the
void his death has made, nor hide our deep
sorrow in this hour of our sad affliction.—
We thus show our appreciation ofliis worth
to ns, and his merits a-< a citizen.
Retolved, That we bow with unmurmur
ing submission to Him who doeth all things
according to His infinite wisdom, and cov
enant together to pray that tlie Blessed
Father will raise someone among us, on
whom the mantle of our brother may wor
tiiilv fall, and that we may again lie joined
in another and better world by even stron
ger bonds of brotherhood than those which
linked us together here.
Rftnlved, That, we tender to his afflicted
family our sincere and heartfelt sympathies
in tuis hour of their distress.
