Strangers, New York City, has accept

Methodist Church to deliver a lecture

Next week, the road hands will be
csl'ed out, as usual. A shallow furrow
will be run with a one horse plow on
either side of the highway; a few pine
tops thrown into the mud holes and
covered with a little dirt ; a pule or
two added lo u hri-lye here ond there,
and the roads will be worked.
On public occasions, but, more es
pecially on Saturdays, negroes and oth
ers arc in the habit of congregating on
the side waive in the business portion
of town and so completely obstructing
them, that persons can scarcely pass.
The Citv Couocil has recently passed
an ordinance, prohibiting all suoh gath
eriug on the side walk*, under u heavy
penalty. The ordinance should be
strictly enforced,

announcing the death of his broth
er, Wra. G Baugh, in Shelby coun
ty, Tennessee. Mr. VV. G. Baugh,
with his family, moved from Han
cock county, several years ago, to
the Western District of Tennessee
