Mk. Editor,
Sir : As you have many frends
about Cumming (one ov whom I am
which,) who take an intrest in the
prosperity ov your paper, and from
among whom you sometimes receve
a letter, I think it wood not be amiss
to rite you at this junktur. You Lav
bin informed ov the number ov pop
elusion in our town, the number ov I
stors, the number ov wagons made
here etch year, and that we hav a
fllurishin’ hi skool, with Prof. Vin
cent at its lied ; ov the number of its
manly and intelegint yung men, and
how “the kiassik student steels,” etc.,
and ov the number ov its girls, “who
ar like to dreems ov poitry, that ma
not be ritten or told—exseeding
butiful.” But, Mr. Editor, it ain’t ov
any ov these I now wish t rite. —
Grate events is on the tapis. Our
town is excited and I feel the conta
gon! I wood not rite ov krysilis
bursting into buty and flitting amid
seenes where the pisonoak klimbetli
and the duberry briar twineth, the
broom sage nodeth, and the king ov
day stilleth fragrant aroma from the
—the dog fennel; nor had I a pen
pluked from a pinion ov an angel,
wood I rite ov heavens or ov rain
bows, showers ov diamonds, sees ov
neektar, or rocks ov pure gold. All
these things pale befoic the mity uir
kumstance, but I might as well tell
you what it is. It is tru Cumming
is not like Atlanta, the senter ov
space and on an ait line to every
where, but we’re bound to have it;
and I think the poet was misstaken j
when he sed, “Bliss itself is not worth
having when we’re by kompulsion
blest.” Though I’ve not told you
w hat it is we’re to hav. Well, we’re
going to hav a railroad. Yes, Mr.
Editor, we’re to have a railroad which
is to be the konr.ecting link in a road
from the Atlamiek to the Pacifick,
from New York to Kalaforna. Yes,
our peple alreddy are regaling them j
selves with seenes like this; ov a'
train of palas kars drawn by the iron
horse as he rushes at fritful speed
around Saw nee’s base, waking the
ekos ov his slumbering silence ami
wreathing his liorv lied with klouds
of siiiok like ambrosial locks on Ju- !
piter's nodding lied—the whistle
blows—the train stops at our depot
and wile the baggage smassher kalis
out the clieke ail is busle and konfu
sion, passingers ov all nations—the
fiegmatio Duchmanjhe polite French
man, the ruddy Irishman, and pigtail
Chinaman, ail, all are titer, and amid
the Babel of tongs, and poteis ho.’lor
ing out for Kain’s Hotel—the iron j
horse stands and chaws up red hot
cinders, and emits the sizzing steam
and sparks ov fire from his nostrels,
untill his tail is jerked and away he
gos agin. Oh! what seens ov futur
grateness for us, Mr. Editor, looms
up at a short distance in the vesta ov
the futur; the survey Is now acktually
beiu’ make from Gainsville to Kings
ton, and the importance ov the rout
leevs us no such word in our vokabu
lary as “fail”—it wili surely be huilt.
I no that all things human ’re liable
to fail, but this I do not think will.
It’s tru that Major S. and cussin
John kame and luk charge ov our
Sawnee’s mountain to make a signal
station ov, and we hav not herd ov
them since—that may fail, as cussin
John’s nerves rec’d a shock in trying
to ride a donkey down the mountain
side wish saddle girth fasened with a
kotton string lie hosted of tho
donkey’s safty wile on the mountain’s
summit, little tbinkin’ how soon he
wood kum to greef, but so soon as
he begun the steep desent, cussin
John’s immense magnitude and hugh
preponderovity, with feet and stirrup
stuck out be 4 the donkey’s nose,
kaused the saddle tp glide on the
donkey’s neck at the eminent risk ov
cussin John, “with swoop terriffick,”
passing o’er the donkey’s pendant
ears and down the mountain side ;
hut our cussin, with his usual appre
ciation ov the situation, soon found
out that he could walk, to the don
key’s grate relief. As I said, that
tnay fail, hut I iiope not, and that
cussin John may lend us his high
social qualities, his genial smiles and
his ente r prising spirit to build up our
town. As I bav herd that prolixity
is not pleasing, if you will allow me
to hollar one time more, hurrah for
the railroad! I will subside by saying
nothing more.

Cough, Bronohitis, Asthma,
and Consumption.
Probably never before in tbo whole history of
medicine, has any tiling won so w idely and so
deeply upon the confidence of mankind, ns ttds
excellent remedy for pulmonary complaints.
Through a long sciios of years, and among most
of the races or men it tins risen higher and higher
in their estimation, us it has become better known.
Its uniform character and power to cure the va
rious affections of thu lungs amt throat, have
made it known as a reliable protector against
them. While adapted to milder forms of disease
and to young children, it is at the same lime tho
most effectual remedy that can be given for incip
ient consumption, and the dangerous affections
of the throat and lungs. As a provision against
sudden attacks of Croup. it should tie kept on
hand in every family, and indeed as all are some
times subject to colds and coughs, uli should be
provided with this antidote for them.
Although settled Consumption is thought in
curable, still great numbers of cases where the
disease seemed settled, have been completely
cured, nud tho patient restored to sound health
by tho Cherry Pectoral. So complete is it»
mastery over the disorders of the Lungs and
Throat, that the most obstinate of them yield to it.
When nothing else could roach them, under the
Cherry Pectoral they subside and disappear.
Singers and Public Speakers find great
protection from it.
Asthma is always relioved and often wholly
cured by it.
Bronchitis is generally cured by taking tho
Cherry Pectoral' in small and frequent doses.
So generally are Its virtues known, that wo
need not publish the ccrtlllcates of them here, or
do more than assure the public that Its qualities
are fully maintained.
