The I'ires'lait Week.
Last week was an unfortunate
one in Georgia. Covington, Au
gusta, Dalton and Oednrtown suf
ferred heavy losses by tire.
In Covingten the fire originated
in Bagby’s saloon from a def«e
tive stove fins and spread rapidly
along the North side, of the pub
lic square, burning ths Court
House and a number of business
houses.
In Augusta the cotun ware
house of Phmazy & Co., in which
thirty six hundred bales of.co ton
was starred, and the warehouse of
wheeler* & Co., with 8,000 balee
wire destroyed by fire. The loss
is estimated at $200,000 cevered
by Insurance.
Dalton also cams in for her
share of loss. Half dozen stores
were burned. The loss is estimat
sd at $25,000. ai d was insured for
about $15,000.
