ence in this case being mainly in the
greater number of < ars grown, usu
ally two to stalk, and large ai that,
the larger space between the hills
giving thance for the sun and air to
e rculate. I have also witnessed a
growth of corn where the space be>-
tween them was but half that last
mentioned. It was 911 soil which
for several years had grown large
crops o: carrots, and was favorable
to corn, being bla< k, highly manur
ed and deeply r.cb, a well-drained
allu vial deposit. There r> suited an
immense growih of stalks, but no

of 1 he owrer, confidently expressed,
to raise an unusually s .perio- c op.
It was a failure, save in the am Hint
of fodder it made. In that it | aid,
so great was the growth. We wain
the sun and the fresh air in our corn
as in our fruit trees. That result

The Economy of a Ccw.
We are linppy to note the Tdc

economy of‘house h and affairs.*
A friend says he lias demonstrated
the economy ol a cow in a poor fam
ily, with numerous small children,
as follows :
Bought two years ago art ordina
ry small country cow with a young
calf, for thirty dollars. Has had no
calf since, but w ith plenty to eat
and fair attendance, has yielded
over two gallons of very rich milk
per day up to this present time, with
every promise of continuance in so
doing. Result as follows:
1,4G0 gallons milk, at 40e.
per gallon... $584 00
Feed—peas, b an, shucks,

say 125 00
Ballance of profit $459 00
Showing how a common Georgii
cow may he wort 1 a good deal more
than a blooded horse. She Was fed
Vvell with p<--as, bran, and always
kept, in beef condition. It is folly
to cxaect milk without abundant
f ed ; and with plenty of cow-peas
well boiled, almost any co\j' will
give plenty of rice milk. Don’t
think much of any thing else lor
milk cows than lie!d->peas, well
b tiled with kitchen slops—the offal
of the garden—good gra=s —or green
o ils, rye or barley, With plenty of
these, her hair will shine like silk,
and the milk is bound to come.—
Without them or other nutritious
food, you arc tooling away your
time in frying to keep a cow. Keeps

brouse in neighbors’ shrubery or
kitchen garden—warehouse eolton
or greengrocers’ stock in trade.

A lady in p.iris attended the last

Stie wore a pretty pink domino
which made her particularly con

The Question is almost dail v asked, “What,
is the cause of the unparalleled success of
Vinegar Bitters?” Our answer is,
they remove the cans© of disease, and tjie
