Marrigp—Mr. John L. Manning, of
Marietta, was married at the residence
of Mr. Coleman Camp, in Atlanta, on
Wednesday evering, 12th inst. to Miss
Mamie Scott, of Conyers, Ga. Rev. Mr.
Jamison performed the ceremony. The
happycouple arrived on evening train.
Mr. Manning is one of Cobb county’s
best citizens, an honorable and upright
gentleman, clever and popular. He is
an industrious and well-to-do farmer.
Ie has a host of friends who take great
pleasure in congratulating him on win
ning the jewel he has in the person of
the beautiful Miss Scott, one of Con
yers’ most popular young ladies. The
Journal extends hearty congratulations
and good wishes.

SHOOTING FIRE WORKS will be permit
ted in the city on Saturday the 22d
ingt from sp.m. to 12 o’clock, and on
Monday from 5 p. m. to 12 at night,
also on Christmas day, and New Year’s
day from sp. m. to 12 at night. No
firearms, either with blank ecartridges
or loaded, allowed to be discharged on
any of these dates, day or night. The
use of fireworks at any other time than
above mentioned strictly prohibited.

Mr. George F. Newell js still confined
to his home sick. His many Marietta
friends, who esteem him highly, hope
for his speedy recovery. His brother,
Mr. Charles L. Newell, of Logansport,
Ind., is visiting him. His son, Charlie,
will arrive home from school Sunday
to spend the holidays. -

Removep.—Mrs. R. R. Carter, and
Mrs. J. E. Dwyer have removed their
ladies’ and gentlemen’s tailoring estab
lishment to the rooms vacated by Dr.
Field, up stairs over Sessions’ store,
where they are prepared to do fashion
able dressmaking in latest styles, and
also do repair work, cleaning and press
ing gentlemen’s clothing.
Marriep.—Wednesday evening, 12th
inst., at the residence of Dr. 7. W.
O’Kelly,of West End, Atlanta, occurred
the marriage of Miss Bertha Schiff to
Mr. G. Raymond Johnson, both of At
lanta. Mr. Johnson ‘formerly resided
in Marietta and has the best wishes of
a number of friends here.

Miss Mary Dean Towers, in Spartan
burg, 8. C., is slowly recovering from
her severe case of typhoid fever, and it
is thought she will be able to accom
pany Mrs. W. R. Montgomery home
