meeting at the Presbyterian church
Wednesday night, and Mr. Trenary at
the Methodist church.

Senator Clay, of Georgia, introduced
a bill' in the senate to grant a pension
of $75 per month to the widow of the
late Captain Frank Crenshaw of Com~
pany A, 28th United states volunteers.
Captain Crenshaw, it will be recalled;
was wounded in battle in the Philip
pines and was brought home in a des
perate condition several month ago,
dying in Atlanta. Senator Clay also
introdueced a bill to admit free of duty
all articles of manufacture controlled
by trusts and also a bill to provide for
refunding the tax laid and collected on
raw cotton levied many years ago. 1
This bill is to be effective in the event 1
the law under which the tax was laid {
is declared unconstitutional by the su
preme court. !

Mr. M. G. Whitlock has sold his home
and'farm of 70 acres near the eorporate
limits, on Atlanta street, to Mr. Robert
E. Butler, of this place. Mr. Whitlock
takes the' Haynes residence on Haynes
streef inthe transaction. Mr. Whitloch
and family have moved to Gainesville
Ga., where he is running the A‘flingt'n
Hotel and doing weil. ,

Diep—The wife of Mr. Norman Gig
nilliat died at the family residence in
this county on Jast Friday morning,
aged 61 years. She leaves a husband
and eight living children. She was
buried in the Episcopal cemetery in
this place on last Saturday. Weextend
our sympathy to the bereaved family.
