actual debt of city. These figures are true and
should cause our citizens to rejoice, for they
exhibit the financial condition of Newnan in
an enviable light.
As is well known to our city readers, the
city bonds are the largest item of the $541 25.
The bonds which have been redeemed were
burned by Ihe Finance Committee of the Coun
cil, and hence it is utterly impossible for anv
larger amount of the bonds to circulate than
are now in existence.
Is it not rather strange, under these circum
stances, that the city bonds are not as current
as greenbacks ? If the United States can pay
$2,000,000,00(1, cannot Newnan redeem $541
25, or rather $325 75 of her bonds? It seems
so truly, especially when we consider that the
tax of the present year will more than absorb
them. But it is, at this particular crisis, highly

penditures now in various ways, and these things
can be accomplished only by the merchants
and others of the community giving currenev
to the city bonds. That they will he redeemed
no man can doubt, and more than $541 25 is
needed all the time by our business men for
change. Why not consent for the city bonds
to be that change? The whole truth is, with
out action of the kind the functions of the
city government must nearly or quite by sus
pended, and leave our citizens at the mercy of
noisy, disorderly blackguards and other distur
bers of the peace. Are the people of Newnan
ready for this ? The Marshal’s salary and other
expenses of the city must be promptly met and
paid, or we will have no Marshal.
Surely the members of the present adminis
tration command the confidence of their con
stituents. Thc c ity government has been eco
nomically administered. Good order h.is been
preserved. The railroad bridge has been re
paired, a new and substantial one has been
constructed on the street leading to the ceme
tery, and the indebtedness of the city reduced
about $1,000. Surely the men who have done
tiiis much and more for us will see to it that
the last cent of the remaining debt (only $541
25) is paid. Then why not receive the city
bonds at par and continue the city government
in all its vigor? We think we know that the
desired answer will be returned.

Among the vast improvements of the present
times the change in remedies is not the least ime
portant. Formerly ridiculous and often injurious
mixtures were administered upon the recommen
dation of one person to another, or from on-
family to another, as being “good” for such and
such a complaint, while they were, in fact, use
less or worse. Now. Frof. Kayton supplies the
public with the most effectual remedies that ed
ucated skill can derise or art can produce, with
explicit directions for their use in each and every
case. In place of the senselees potions our
grandmothers gave, we have the cunning inven
tions of men learned in the art of cure, adapted to
our necessities, at a nominal price. Prof. Hay-
ton’s remedies consist of
KAYTON’S OLEUM V1T.E,
The great German Liniment for Rheumatism,
Neuralgia Pains in the Back, Joints, Breast or
Side, Nervous Headache, Toothache, Earache,
j- Sprains, Bruises, Burns, etc.
KAYTON’S MAGIC CURE,
For sudden Coughs and Colds, Asthma, Acid
Stomach, Heartburn, Sore Throat, Sea Sickness,

For Dyspepsia, Bilious Disorders, Costiveness,
Sick Headache, and all Disorders of the Liver,
Stomach and Bowels, and as a spring and fall
medicine to carry off the rankling humors in the
blood—Quitman Banner.
These remedies are innocent, and no person
need be alarmed at taking thenr; yet they are
powerful, and will remove the diseases enumer- j
ated above. A trial will satisfy every one that i
their curative properties are not over estimated. I
