QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS. Duigi.asvh.i.k Ga., Jan. Ist 1813. Editor Shield: Y n will please give me a cornet answer to a question which I inn going.to ask lam deeply jn love with a beautiful young lady who is about nineteen years of age. We 8 em to be exactly suited for each other, agreeing as we do on religion, polities, mutters and tilings i: general. 1 have often conversed with her n re gard to the love existing between us and have told her how ardent Jhe love, is on niv part She is intelligent, aud by the way, a good dancer and tolera bl\ good fiddler. Is that not ail man could want on earth below ? She is wild an 1 boisterous .o company . At J first her pe-e/e was oppos-si to me.j and did all tin y e aid to ~i all pro- j overlings ; ai d I" u: ii■ ■t <• mooihs • ago I made up my mind to lecher slide, j uttd try another whom I became ae- \ quainted with about that time. Andi one that I love better than any one else in t: e world I then wrote th: fiist a note asking her to relieve me from our engagement. At fiist I re ceived lin answer. 11l a few days, however, she sent me a note stating that she had w rnted our engagement broken for a long time, but did not like to ask it herself. 1 was entirely from her presence for some time, but now I occasionally see her, she continues to invite me to call and I have done so twice thinking per flaps she would give it up entirely, but my calling only seems to excite the old feeling between ns. She appears the same as before our engagement. Time passed on until we made the second engagement but before ■ e marry I will consult you on the matter, for 1 am fearful it will ruin the happiness for life with both of us as well as dis turbing the peaceful quietude and tt an quility of the vicinity at large. Now what I want to know is what is the most honorably way for me to pursue for I cannot claim the affections of the one I love until I get out of this aflair honorably 1 I remain, Yours Truly, C. D. The old adage, “Honesty is the best policy,” holds good in love matters, as well as anything else. Go to the young lady, and give her a full states raent of your situation. Lay your case before her just as you have before us, and she being a lady of course, will not wish a man to marry her when she holds only a second place in his affec tions. If you have not courage enough to see the young lady face to face cut this out and send it to her with a note asking her to release you, and you no doubt will receive a reply setting you -*t liberty. Sammie says : A scientific lady friend and myself had an argument, not long since concerning our future knowledge the contending that those who are at rest in heaven neither know nor are known by their friends. Who follow after them. I contend that they are known and do know then frien s when they meet in eternity. We agreed to leave it for you to decide • We are of the opinion that Sammie is correct, and think we have script me to support the idea, in the parable of the rich man who saw Lazarus, though u far off in Abraham’s bosom. GRANT, Sup’t. Ayer’s Fair Vigor, F'. restoring to Gray Hair its natural Vitality and Color. gloss and freshness of youth. Thin nair is thickened, falling hair checked, and baldness often, though not always, cured by its use. Nothing can restore the hair where the follicles are de stroyed, or the glands atrophied and decayed ; but such as remain can be saved by this application, and stimu lated into activity, so that anew growth of hair is produced. Instead of fouling the hair with a pasty sedi ment, it will keep it clean and vigorous. Its occasional use will prevent the hair from turning gray or falling off, and consequently prevent baldness. The restoration of vitality it gives to the scalp arrests and prevents the forma tion of dandruff, which is often so un cleanly and offensive. Free from those deleterious substances which make some preparations dangerous and inju rious to the hair, the Vigor can only benefit but not harm it. I'f wanted merely for a HAIR DRESSING, nothing else can be fouiod' so desirable, Containing neither oil nor dye, it does pot soil white cambric, and yet lasts long on the hair, giving it a rich, glossy lustre, and a grateful perfume. Ayer’s Cherry Pectoral, Tor Diseases of tb,o Throat and Lungs, •uoh as Coughs,’ Colds, Whooping Cough, Bronchitis, Asthma, and Consumption. r discoveries of modem science, few are of more real value to mankind than this ef fectual remedy for all diseases of tiie Throat other** countries, ha shown, that it does surely and effectually eontrol them. The testimony of our best citi zens, of all classes, establishes the fact, that Cherry Pectoral will and does relieve and cure the afflicting disorders of the Throat and Lungs beyond any ( flier medicine. The most dangerous affections of the Pulmonary Organs yield to its power; and cases of Consump* tion, cured by this preparation,, are public, ly known, so remarkable as hardly to be bo, lieved, w.ire they not proven beyond dispute. Asa remedy it is adequate, on which the publie may rely for full protection. By curing Coughs, the forerunners of more serions disease, it savrs unnumbered lives, and an, amount of suffering not to be computed, ft challenges trial, and con vinces the most sceptical, Every family should keep it on hand as a protection against the early and unperceived attack of Pulmonary Affections, which are easily met at first, but which become incurable, and too often fatal, if neglected. Ten der lungs need this defence; and it is unwise to be without it. Asa safeguard to children, amid the distressing diseases which beset the Throat and Chest of childhood, Cherry Pectoral, is invaluable; for, by its timely use, multi tudes are rescued from premature graves, and saved to the love and affection centred on therm it acts speedily and surely against ordinary colds, securing sound and health-restoring sleep.
