SOUTHERN, of EJs't Poii t, Ga. is an anthoiized Agent for The Palmetto Shield. Curiosity. Mr. Hiilery Cleckler near Fairburn, handed to us one day this week an egg, in the shape of a powder gourd. It had the hollow neck to it with the end open like a small gourd prepared for pouring out the powder. Some of our Guano Agents say that the demand for Fertilized s this year is greater than the supply. That being the case those intending to use them had better make arrangements to pur chase at once. Mr. A. B. Latham of Atlanta inis a largo lot of mules to sell to farmers on Oct. time. Parties wishing to bn;.’ will do well to call on him at his stables in Atlanta. The Town Ordnances being handed in so late last week we did not have time to correct ihem, consequently they contained many errors, by refer ence to them in this issue, you will see that they have undergone a correction It ill be seen by a short communi cation in another column that a com mittee of three have called on Judge Short, for his views on the Bond Question. We hope that the Judge will respond, and that lie will furnish us with his article for next issue, which we know, from the ability ol the Judge, it will be an able thing. The March Term of Coweta Superior Court, commences next M relay. The CaGrange Reporter says, that Bob Butherford, of Monroe county, is a whale. We wonder if he is the one that swallowed Jonah. Munioe Brown, coloruil, a dcciplc of Brigham Young, has been tnan i. and to wife number two. Jonesboko itas been fnchanted by tbe music of a Brass Band. House rocking has been carried ou in La Grrange for several nights, and there is $lO reward offered for the ar rest of the parties so engaged. Wanted.— Palmetto needs a good Shoe and Boot Maker. There is a splendid opening for a sober work man. We will guarantee plenty of paying customers. Zellars has just received a lot of the b st Apples we have seen this season. 1 hoieton Sz Holloman lias received a large lot of Gents Hats. Hardware, Saddles Bridles etc. I Inornton & Ilolleuian has just re j ceived a fresh supply of Corn, Meat and ur to sell on time. Prof. Looney has just completed a nice fish pond on his premises, in which he anticipates raising fish. We see no good reason why, a man could not raise fish just as well as he docs fowls, or vegetables, it is like every thing else only needs proper attention fo make it profitable. It will lie quite a nice treat in a few years to visit Prof. Loonrv and feast on fresh fish. Notice —All persons indebted to the undeisigned, will please cull and set tle without further delay. H.
