ed carelessly, in a harried mauuer,

temptations. In my judgement no
man who buy s cotton should keep a
warehouse .to sell; the cotton of plan
ters. He’ can’t represent both sides
in the same trade. But all that apart
—I was enquiring about that city
weigher, who seems an anomaly; and
understand it has dangerous power.
As I am seeking information, and
as editors are supposedio know, every
thiug, will yon be kind enough- to in-
form-me whether this officer of city
wtigliej i» upt a new ru\ and how
. many of our cities have such officers.
