The members of • Quitman Division. No. 9,’’
S. of T. are specially requested to attend a reg
ular meeting to-night, as business of importance
is to be transacted.
THE LOCAL CAMPAIGN.
Capt. James H. Hunter, the Democratic nomi
hee for Representative, has already address«»d
his fellow-citizens in variou.s*porliunsj>f the coun
ty, and will to-day deliver a speech ct Wade's
Stores. On Saturday there will be a in: ss-meet
lig at Tallokas, which will be adtiiv.-cc.l by i
Captains Hunter and Turner. At this latter!
meeting «t is expected that a large number ol <
the citizens of Colquitt county will be present,
a id a glorious political revival will take place.

These gentlemen bare received their Full Sup
plies, and are daily exhibiting them to 'scores ol
purchasers. Theii stoek is large, varied and of
good quality. In the dress goods line, they
have many articles to please the ladies. This
la a cash store, and the rule is, small profits and
quick sab s. They sell an immense quantity of
goods. See 'their advertisement as to articles
they deal in, and be sure to examine the Horace ,
Uree’.ey calico—-a curiosity.
•Incob Baumb Stoek.
Oor old friend Jacob, as usual, has a full
stock of everything substantial, use ul, orna
mental and fashionable. He is a good merchant
—knows how to take advantage of the Northern
market —purchases on the most reasonable
terms, and gives his customers the advantage of
the'same. Read his advirihemont and pay
him a visit.
The County Bonds.
These valuable securities have been received,
and we are happy to 'learn that they are in de
mand by capitalists. Judge Harden bus already
negotiated for the sale of two thousand dollars
ot them at 97$ cents In the dollar, and one gen
tleman has‘offered to take the entire s<>,ol)o.
The Judge, however, deems it unnecessary to
dispose of more than S3, (IDO 'the present yeai;
and be hopes by the November term of the Su
perior Court to reduce the County debt from i
• 10,000 to S4, (KM). This is good linings, and to 1
Judge Haideu is due the meed of praise.

Wc have a joke on a clever eld gentleman of ;
*tguXmMt. which ta decidedly too ’good to keep
irora the public. Several young ladies derided
to serenade the aforesaid gentleman, who is ta
■nous for remarkable dreamt, and is recognized
af a quasi ‘•Parson.*’ They cautiously approach
ed his residence, wliielt is not in the eastern po
tiop of the town, and «e(-erta:iiing that he laid
rented with his family, the occasion tens oppor
tune for a surprise. The voting ladies were pro
vided with tin pans and other instruments of j
modern torture, and at a given signal, the most j
unearthly noise broke on the silent night; if en
tered the chamber of the morh-j y ' ' Bat.-on,
who, in great excitement, rushed to the door,
clothed in inowy flowing robes -indignation was ;
stamped upon his countenance, and in so nto- -
rian tones ho demanded tube inform' and why he
should thus be disturbed in his slumbers. There ,
being no response to his demand, and the Hat
ter continuing his voice was again hcatd, clear
and distinct above the clamor and di md.m
sounds, whilst his frame quivered in the flowing
robe,“You little biat. 1 know von. and I’ll give
yon b—l it you don't be gone!’’ No attention
being paid to this warning of the angry • Tar
son,'' he worked himself into a frenzy of excite
ment -his flowing linen fluttering in the gentle
breeze, and again he yelled -(not -my king ! tn
for a horse" or even a Flori.ktjmiy,, - t .n in
fernal brats, if you don't lea ve I'll take a plans
and paddle you well!" At this juncture, tie
young ladles, deeming .that discretion was the
better part of valor beat a retreat. The 7 -
“Carson” discovered a splendid fishing J v s
the following morning, audio his hurried tlu
parture, it is not certain w hether he placed hi
saddle on the back or under “the pony.” Fare
well, “Parson,” were even with you!

a monarch among the

western papers are extravagant in their
prtfiaeoflhis affair. The following is
from the St. Louis Dispatch:
There is but one voice will) the press and
public where this immense organization has
been this season, and that is of the very highest
commendation. Heretoiore exhibitions of this
kind have bad only one and two tents, while the
mammoth Great lies tern, to display ail its won

room to perform all its numerous excellent are

the immen ethrongsof people who daily and
nightly visit it, have been compelled to increase
their capacity to six pavillions, aggregating
neai iv ten thousand yards of canvas. Some

The circus and menagerie of yore are no
more to be compared with the Great -Eastern
than are the most insignificant amateur gym
nasts to the great Hanlons, two of whom are
among the prominent artists of this rat- combi
nation. The street pageant is admitted the most
brilliant and sensational ever made. Three bands
are used instead of one. and the line of march
is a glitter and glare of gold and crimson.
This is the first menagerie of the season, and

Valuable Hints
A regular bubit vd'body is absolutely essential
to physical health anti clearness ol intellect.
Nor is this all. Beauty of person cannot co
exist with mi unnatural condition of the bowels.
A free passage ot the refuse matter of the sys
tem through these natural waste pipes, is us
necessary to the purity of ihe body as the tree
passage of the offal of a city through its sewers
is necessary to the health of its inhabitants.
Indigestion is the primary cause of most of
the diseases of the primary organs, and one of
its most common results is constipation. This
complaint, besid > being dangerous in itself, ha>
i many disagreeable concomitant*—such as an
j unpleasant breath a sallow skin, contaminating
i blood and bile, hemorrhoids, headache, memory,
and go no 1 a’ debility.
Ilostetter's Stomach Bitters remove all the-e
evils by removing their immediate cause in the
digestive organs, and regulating the action of
th-* intestines. The combination of properties
I in this celebrated preparation is one of its chief
merits. It is not merely a stimulant or a tonic.
1 or an antiblllious agent, or a nervine, or a blood
! depnront. or a cathartic, but all these curative
elements judiciously blended in one ptwertul
! restorative. It lends activity and vigor to the
jnert and enervated stomach, relieves the ail
inentary canal of its obstructions, and gives tone
J to the membrane which lines it, gently Ktimn
j l;tt<% the liver, braces the nerves, and cheers the
j animal spiiits No other remedy possesses such
a variety of hygienic virtues. It is to these
characteristic, virtues that it owes its pro tige
us a household medicine. Experience has pr ov
ed that it is ns harmless as it is efficacious, and
hence it is as popmlar with the weaker sex as
with the stronger.
Hostetler's Stomach Bitters are, sold in bottles
i only, and the trade-mark blown in the gift’s and
j engraved on the. label is the test of gennineess.
