Death in the Swamp
It is reported "and gi nerally believed,
that an unfortunate White girl, gen- rally
known in Quitman by the name of Clif
ford Pucket, waa f-itiud dead on the edge
of a swamp, pear Boston, Thomas coun
ty, the latt r part us last week. The
indications arc that the had been dead
s-verahifJys, as birds of Drey had feast
ed on her carcass. Toe callso of her
doatli is hot stated, lint the inference is
that she was murdered. She was about
18 or 20 years of age, an ignorant, dis
sipated girl of ve'jr easy virtue, and
formerly .resided on the anberbs ot Quit
man. She lead a wretched, d-praved
career in lifo, and died a horrible death
