Concert on lastL'riday Night.
Notwithstanding the iiiolemency of
the weathor op lost Friday night, a re-
sphotaWe number . of persons , were
present ,a( -the ;tilty ;HaU,j ,to p,tten<]L
the Tjoneort. given by? the Mendels
sohn Society. Wo were among the
number, and congratulate ourselves that
w6 did not allow the inconveniences
which obtruded themselves in our way
to prevent us from going out.
;We have often since lamented our
v inability to give suitable expression to
the gratification we experienced, and to
the praise which is due those to whom
we are so muoh indebted. Although
wear 0-no musical critiques, yet we knoyir
when wo ore pleased, and we but faintly
express the pleasure we felt on lost Fri-
day evening, when we soy that we were
delighted.
We of course, had our preferences
among the pieces performed, but there
was notono that was not creditable to the
Society and highly appreciated by the
audience. We cannot omit to notice the
Violin Solos by Mr. Robertson. The
pieces were executed in such superior
style as to leave no doubt, that he was
complete master of the instrument.—
The rapturous and prolonged applause
of his hearers, was convincing proof
that he had won their undboundod ad
miration. The “Canary Waltz’’—apiece
of his own composition—was the favo
rite nnd deservedly so.
We regret very much that the^state of
' the weathor prevented a larger atten
dance ; but are happy to say that the
entertainment will be repeated, with
considerable alteration in the program
me, ou next Friday evening, and will
be even more attractive than before, if
passible. The proceods ore to bo devo
ted to the relief of the poor and we
hope the Hall will bo filled. We assure
our readers that if they go they will bo
sutisfiod that they could not have spent
the evening more agreeably.

buyers out. Sales this morning 300
bales.
New York, March 23.—Sales of Cot
ton to-day 8,000 bales, market heavy.—

Tbe Massachusetts Shoemaker's
Strike.—The Boston Journal, in an edi
torial on ttiis subject, says:
“Looking.at this movement from
material point of view, the manufac
turers and jobbers appear to bo reaping
the most benefit from the suspension of
the manufacture of shoes. Little or no
concession has as yet been made to the
demands of the strikers, who, at tho
sacrifice of tho actual necessities of life,
are benefit ting their late employers, by
withholding the cu- tomary product! m
In the meantime tbe market, is gradual
ly being exhausted. Three weeks ago
the market was glutted.
Desirable goods were at once in de
mand, and tho market was soon clear
ed of everything save what had been
used asa circulating medium during
the stagnation of business. Large profits
have been realized on goods on hand ;
and if the strike continues, the markot
will be entirely exhausted.
About twenty buyers from New York
and other places arrived in Lynn yes
terday, but complain of a scarcity of
desirable goods.

fire it caught and scalded my hands and per

crisp. The torture was unbearable. It was
an awfiil sight. • • • The Mustang Lini
ment appeared to extract tbe pain almost
immediately. It healed rapidly and loll no
scar of account. Charles Foster, 420 Broad
Street, Philadelphia.” It Is truly a wonder-
fid article. It will cure any case of swelling,
Burns, Stiff Joints, Eruptions or Rheuma
