Several motions were made and a
good deal of time was consumed, when
| .a direct report was taken on the adop
tion of Butler’s report, (whioh is simply
| the Cincinnati Platform) as the Plttt-
I form of the Convention.’ The ayes and
[nays being called, it resulted as follows:!
n ayes 105, and hays 198.
Motions,counter-motions; andcalls to
I order followed, when Samuels’ minority
I non-intervention Platform was reached,
] when nnbthor network of motions ' Oo-
ourod. Samuels’ Platform was finally
| received, fey a vote of ayes 105, nays 138.
The final vote now pending on the
first seqtjoit of Samuels’report to-affirm-
1 ing the Cincinnati Platform was carried
by a largo mojority.

Steamboat Explosion.
Columbus, April 30.—Tlio mail steam
er J. C. Calhoun, which plyed between
Apalachicola and Bainbridgo, exploded
her boilers yesterday. Mr. Crawford,
the acting Captain, was mortally injur
ed, «ud the-two engineers, Messrs. Hugh
and Atkins, and two passengers were
dangerously wounded. Six negro deck
hands were killed.
