by the assistance of a little knowledge or
exeroise of common sense, they may be able
so to regulate their habits of diet, and with
the assistance of a good tonic, secure per
manent health. In Order to accon(plish this
desired object, the true course to pursue is,
certainly, that whioh will produce a natural
state of things at the least hazard of vital
strength and life; for this end Dr. Hostetler
has introduced to this country a prepara
tion called HOSTETTER’S 8T6MAOH
BITTERS, which at this day is n» a new
medicine, but one that has been tried for
years, giving satisfaction to all who havo
used it. TheBitters operate powerfully upon
the stomach, bowels and liver, restoring
them to a healthy and vigorous notion, ana
thus by the simple process of strengthening
nature, enable the system to triumph over
disease. Diarrhoea, dysentery or flux, so
generally contracted by new settlers, and
caused principally by the change of water
and diet, will be speedily regulated by a
brief use of this preparation. Dyspepsia,
a disease whieh is'probably more prevalent
when taken in all its various forms, than
any other; the cause of whioh may always
be attributed to derangements of the diges
tive organs, can be cured without foil by
using HOSTETTER’S STOMACH BIT
TERS as per directions on the bottle. For
this disease every physician wUl recom
mend Bitters of some kind, then why not
use an article kuown to be infallible?
Eveiy country have their Bitters as a pre
ventive of disease, and strengthening of
the system in general, and among them all
there iB not to be found a more healthy
people than the Germans, from whom this
preparation emanated, based upon scientific
experiments whieh has attended to advanoe
the deBtiny of this great preparation in the
medical scale of science.

Symptoms of a Diseased Liver.
P AIN in the right side, under the edge of

the pain is in the left side; the patient i»
rarely able to fie on the left ride; sometime*
the pain is felt under the shoulder blade,
and it frequently extends to the top of the:
shoulder, and is sometimes mistaken for &
rheumatism in the arm. The stomach is
affected with loss of appetite aqd sickness,
the bowels in general are costive, sometimes
alternative .with lax; the head is troubled
with pain, accompanied with a dull, heavy - '
sensation in the back part. There is gene
rally a considerable loss of memory,/rcebm-
oanied with a painful sensation of having
eft undone something which ought to have
been done. A slight, dty cough is some
times an attendant. The patient complains
of weariness and debility; he is easily startled,
his feet are cold or burning, and he comr-’
plains of a prickly sensation of the skin ,
his spirits are low; and although he is satis
fied that exercise would be beneficial to him,
yet he can scarcely summon up fortitude
enough to try it. In fact, he distrusts every .
remedy. Several of the above symptoms
attend the disease, but cases have occurred
where few of them existed, yet examination
of the body, after death, has shown the
liver to have been extensively deranged.
