THE SILKEN BONDS.

Are stfftaeriidiby fate * imperious decree,
And the fon f de»t hopes of our young
hearts love, .
Shall wither away like a leaf on the
tree,
Ah! where shall you find all desolate
there,
The magical charm of a bliss to restore?
Alas, ’tifi in Tain, the heart irtfured once
May throb till it break, but never feel
more.
The wild rose may spring from a desola
ted rook,
And shed o’er its barren ita sweetest
perfume,
And the rock that hath felt the light
ning’s Shook, .
May stand and the joy around it will
cling.
Anil when it is withered another will
Its tendrils entwined ’round the oak, as
boforo
Yet the heart injured once, like the
trunk may remain,
But the flowers of life will never bloom
more.

clever field, and we have just returned

sweets—such as no cosmetic can imitate:
But above all the fruits, plants to tend
and nestle to our heart in the form of a
little boy of ten days old, who lays qui

A blue-eyed, fair-skinned, golden-hair

the roughness of this world in striking

whose place here seems, if possible,
more vacant now that the little brother

An Ingenious Invention.—The Pano

or bedstead, by which a person can wind
it up, and lie down on the couch and it
will run by means of his own weight, a
given number of hours, with a fan con
stantly in motion over his face and body,
to keep the flies off, and fan him to sleep
by a cool and pleasant breeze. The
Doctor has applied fora patent, and will

we have no hesitation in saying that it
is one of the best inventions of the age,

For InfUmatory Diseases Only!
‘New Medical Salt
IS NOT A CUBE ALL.
FOR INFLAMATOBY DISEASES ONLY
B R. C0GG8W ELL’S New Medical Salt
1 instead of being a remedy for all ills,
control over but one ill, has but one aim,
and accomplishes but ope thing, to wit: Sub
dues Indamatory Diseases—whatever be its
form or locality, whether'in the head, throat,
abdomen, extremities or skin.
The peouliar excellence of the New Medi
cal Salt is, that without the useless loss of
blood aud strength, it effectually cures In-
flamatory Diseases (no others) by producing
. an equilibrium of all'the.6ulds in the body,
the want of which" is -the solo Cause of in'
flammatioD.
Invalids, Take 'Notice 1 — The following
forms whloh the unbalanced fluids assume
and many not here mentioned, that nave
more or less fever and p .in, are easily sub
dued by the New Bfedioat Salt as fire is ex
tinguished by water, to wit: Brain Fever,
Hearfoche, Bush of Blood to the Head end
Heart, Fits, Inflamed Eyes, Ears and Nose,
Canker, Neuralgia, Spinal Affections, Ery
sipelas, Bronchitis, Pleurisy, Asthma,. In
flamed Lungs and Liver, Heartburn, Coughs,
Dyspepsia, Venerlal Diseases, Bhenmatism,
Gout Scrofula, Salt Bheum, and all Itohing
and other cutaneous eruptions.
Dr. Goggswell’s New Medical Salt exerts
like the vaccine matter, an extraordinary in
fluence over the veins and arteries, resulting
in a gradual declining of Inflammation as in
dicated by the pulse, which soon returns to
its natural state, a. the heat, pain and fever
disappear.
Dr, Ooggswell’ffNew Medical 8alt does just
what it claims to do no more no less—equal
ises the fluids by removing from the system
all arterial and venous obstructions. Descrip

In view of the fact that every member of
the human family is ipore or less subjected to
some of the above complaints, besides in
numerable other conditions in life, which
by the assistance of a littla knowledge o.
exercise of common sense, they may be able
so to regulate their habits of diet, and with
the assistance of a good tonic, secure per
manent health. In order to accomplish, this
desired object, the true course to pursue is,
certainly, that whioh will produce a natural
state of things at the least hazard of vital
strength and life; for this end Dr. Hostetler
has introduced to this countiy a prepara
tion called.HOSTETTER’S STOMACH
BITTERS, which at this day is nx a new
medicine, but one that has been tried for
years, givinj^satisfaction to aU^who bavo
the stomach, bowels 6 and^Uver, restonu; 1
them to a healthy and vigorous action, ant
thus by the simple process of strengthening
nature, enable tne system to triumph over
disease. Diarrhoea, dysentery or flux, so
generally contracted by new settlers, and
caused principally by the ohange of water
and diet, will be speedily regulated by a
brief use of this preparation. Dyspepsia,
a disease which is probably more prevalent
when taken in all its various forms, than
any other; the cause of which may always
be attributed to derangements of the diges
tive organs, can be enred without foil by
using HOSTETTER’S STOMACH BIT
TERS as per direetions on the bottle. For
this disease every physician will recom
mend Bitters of some kind, then why not
use an artiole known to be infallible 7
Every countiy have their Bitters as a pre
ventive of disease, and strengthening of
the system in general, and among them all
there ia not to be found a more healthy
people than the Germans, from whom this
preparation emanated, based upon scientific
experiments whieh has attended to advanon
the destiny of this great preparation in (he
medical seisle of seienoe.
FEVER AND AGUE.
This try In | sod provoking disease, which fixes its
ntenUess grasp on the body of man, reducing him to
a men shadow In a short space of time, and rendering
him physically and mentally useless, can he defeated
and driven from the body by the use ot HOSTETTBIl'S
RENOWNED BITTERS. Further, any ot the abort
stated disease! can not bo contracted when exposed u
any ocdlnaiy conditions producing them. If the Bitten
are used as per direetions. And as It neither creates
nausea nor offends the palaU. and tendering unneces

suits, hut promotes sound sloop and healthy digestion,
tho complaint Is thus removed as speedily as Is con
sistent with the production ot a thorough and perma

For Penona in advanced yeara
Who are suffering from an enfeebled constitution and
Infirm body, these Bitters are Invaluable as a restora
tive of strength and vigor, and needs only to bo tried
to be appreciated. And to a mother while musing,
these Bitten are Indispensable, especially where the!’
mother ■ nourishment Is Inadequate to tho demands
of the child, consequently her strength must yield,
and here it Is where a good tonic, snob as Hostetler's
Stomach Bitters is needed to Impart temporary strength
and vigor to the system. Ladles should hy all
