(gj- We are requested to state that
the Store of A. Baum was closed on yes

the goods, preparatory to his semi-annu 1

More Improvements.
Wool Carding.—Dr. Dykes has now
nearly ready for running, two beautiful
new Wool Carding Machines in his new
building near the Presbyterian Church.
These Machines are of the latest and
most approved style and will doubtless
do first rate work.
The Machinery is to be propelled by
a beautiful 12 horse power steam engine,
manufactured by Noble, Bro. & Co., of
this city. We are glad to learn that
Noble’s Engines are rapidly coming
into high repute.
New Banking House.—The wooden
building formerly occupied by A. M.
Sloan & Co., os a Dry Goods store is to
be torn down and a fine brick building,
for a Banking House, for the "Bank of
the Empire State” is immediately to be
erected in its place. The Directors of
this Bank, since its re-organizaticn, are
moving right forward towards the es
tablishment of a first class Bank such
os will command the confidence of all
intelligent business men. There is no
name in Upper Georgia that would in
spire more confidence in a Banking
Institution than that of Wade S. Coth
ran, the worthy President of this Bank.
We deem the Bank most fortunate in
securing the service of Charles Oliver
Stillwell as Cashier, certainly none bet
ter could be found.
Accident.—W. R. Partin was thrown
from a horse on Tuesday the 17th inst.,
and by the fall, his right leg was broken
below die knee—the bones protruding
through the flesh.
Breckinridge and Lane Ratification
Meeting.—On Tuesday a portion of the
Democratic party of Floyd, met in the
Court House for the purpose of ratifying
the nominations of Breckinridge and
Lane. The call wan addressed exclusive
ly. to “the members of the National Democrat
ic party." We considered ourselvesvory
-mupl
Breckinridge .friends compensated us by
requesting us to publish their proceedings.—
We, of course, take it as tin honor to be
permitted to do so, and, therefore,
cheerfully comply.
Negro Laborers Wanted.—Col. John
D. Gray, contractor on the Ga. A Ala.
R. R., desires to hire some 40 or 50 ne
gro men to work on this road. Col. G.
has large experience in the management
of all kinds of laborers, and owners

Liverpool Cotton Market, July 4th
(via Southampton.)—The sales in three
days foot up 25,000 bales, of which spec

were 10,000 bales, of which . speculators
and exporters took 3000. The market
was irregular and unchanged.
General Intelligence.
Heenan, the “Benicia Boy,” and Col.

derbilt. The latter comes to make ar
rangements for Prince Napoleon’s visit.
There have been numerous failures
among the Leather merchants of Eng
land. Their aggregate liabilities will
reach £1,500,000. The American hide
houses of Liverpool, however, are not
compromised.
Fresh disturbances have broken out
at Naples. A police station was sack
ed, pillaged, and a number of persons
killed. .The king has ordered the
formation of a National Guard.
Garibaldi has appointed a new Min
istry, the old being unpopular with the
people. Signor Natoli is the new Min

Morocco has paid the first instalment
of the indemnity to Spain.
The Neapolitan Ambassador is ex

the elite of the medical profession from ail
parts of the United States. If they would
permit us to advise, wo would suggest that
each of them take homo with them a pack

the nauseous drugs heretofore used. It is so
pleasant that children actually cry for it,

TRIG0PHER0US.
K EMPTON’S TRICOPHEROUS is a
Medicated Compound for preserving,
resioring and bcautifyiug the Hair, for re
moving dandruff, and for preventing the
hair from falling out. It is compounded on
purely scientific principles* and is entirely
of a vegetable character. It strengthens the
roots of the hair by stimuli Ving the scalp,
oleansos the head, and. Os an agreeable acces
sory <o the toilet, is unsurpassed. In th-s
words of e. poet, who has proved its exccllaut
?_r.S varied qualities, it may now bo truly
said—
Behold a double charm, whose potent power,
Adds a now grace to boauty's choicest dower,
Bids hor rich curls a silken lustre win,
Heals the torn ilosh, and cools the bnrning
skin. *
The loosened hair, touched by Its halm takes
root, .
And from the scalp new, living fibres shoot;
And look at woman—lo! each flower tress,
Shinos as it wares, though late 'twos lustre-
loss.
Smiling, she marks the change—her fears
are flown,
The erowning gift of nature is her own;
At mors and eve the liquid is applied,
The rich mess lengthens, and grows thiok

She makes no secret of the eause, and thus
Spreads the just fame of Kempton’s Trlco
