Rest 1 aged sister! now no more
The manna shalt thou need ;
Nor ask a draught where, from the rock,
The cool, fresn currents speed ;
Nor by the palm troo and the well,
Encamp with fainting Israel.
A moment was there when thy heart
Its placid beat adjured,
•And envy to her syren cell
Thy childlike spirit hived.
But thine the anguish of t ho good,
And thino the leper’s solitude.
What it thy brother’s shining gifts,
Ilis converse close with God,
To disaffection stirred thy soul,
And mado thy virtue nod.
That virtue stood erect once more,
And thou coulds’t triumph and adore
See 1 how the fiery column stands
Above thy quiet mound—
It leads thee not to those fair lands
Where joy and peace are found.
To-morrow may that pillar move,
And wo must leavo thee though wo love.
Closed is the eye which watched the ark,
A brother >t enshrined ;
Rigid the feet which gaily sped
A nurse for him to find.
And mute the lips which woke a strain
When with thee was that babe again.
Restl Prophetess! whose glowing speech
The mighty future told,
Thy timbrel must be muffled now,
For thou art in the mould.
The vesper dew its robe shall cast,
Where we of Miriam looked our last.

In view of the fact that every member of
the hnman family is more or less subjected to
some of the above complaints, besides in-
numerable other conditions in life, which
by the assistance of a little knowledge c.
exercise of common sense, they may be able
so to regulate their habits of diet, and with
the assistance of a good tonic, secure per-

desired object, the true course to pursue is,
certainly, that which will produce a natural
state of tiling's at the least hazard of vital
strength and life; for this end Dr. Hostctter

UBed it. The Bitters operate powerfully upon
the stomach, bowels mid liver, restoring
them to a healthy and vigorous action, and
thus by tho simple process of strengthening
nature, enable tne system to triumph over
disease. Diarrhoea, dysentery or flux; so
generally contracted by new settlers, and
caused principally by the change of wnter
and diet, will be speedily regulated by n
brief use of this preparation. Dyspepsia,
a disease which is probably more prevalent
when taken in all its various forms, than
any other; tiiu cause of which may always
be attributed to derangements of the diges
tive organs, can be cured without fail by
using HOSTETTER’S STOMACH BIT

LIVER PILLS,
roa THl 00*1 Off t -
Hepatitis or Liver Complaint,
DYSPEPSIA AND SICK HEADACHE.
Symptoms of a Diseased Liver.
P AIN in the right side, under the .edge of
the ribs, increase, on pressure; sometimes
the pain is in the. jeft side;, patient is
rarefy able to lie on the left side.; sometimes
the pain is felt under the shoulder blade,,
and it frequently extends to tlie fop of tlie*
shoulder, and is sometimes mistaken for at
rheumatism in the arm. , The stomach fr
affected with loss of appetiter.and 1 sickness,
the bowels in general are costive, sometimes
alternative with lax; the head is troubled
with pain, accompanied with a dull, heavy
sensation in the back part. There is gene
rally a considerable loss of memoiy, accom
panied with a painful sensation of having
left undone something which ought to have
been done. A slight, dry cough is some
times an attendant. The patient complains
of weariness and debility; he is easily startled,
his feet are cold or burning, and he com
plains of a prickly sensation of the skin;
his spirits are low; and although he is satis
fied that exercise would be beneficial to him,
yet he can scarcely summon up fortitude
enough to try it. In fact, he distrusts every
remedy. Several of the above symptoms
attend the disease, but cases have occurred
where few of them existed, yet examination
of the body, after death, has shown tlie
liver to have been extensively deranged.
AGUE AND FEVER.
Dr. M’Lane’s Liver Pills, in cases op
Ague and Fever, when taken with Quinine,
arc productive of the most happy results. No^
better cathartic can be used, preparatory to,
or after taking Quinine. We would advi«e
all who are afflicted with this disease to give
them a fair trial.
