dated Philadelphia November 13th,
says: The news, published iu the papers
this morning, that the South Carolina
Legislature had passed a law legalizing
the suspension of specie payments by
the banks of that State, full like a clap
of thunder on our community. It has
almost caused a panic here.. All the
fancy stock at tho opening of -the Bro
ker’s Board this morning, went down
with a run. Even good Securities are
very shaky, A large amount of Stocks
will nocessariljvbe foroed upon tho mtir-
ket. ‘
The people herb are just beginning to
realize that South Carolina is earnest.
Hud they known it two months ago, we
would have a different state of things
to-day. A large nuuibCidf heavy South
