Cure for Domestic Unhappi
ness.
'l'ho law of lovo was given as a prin
ciple and a spirit which should rule the
Christian’s life, and the righteousness of
the Christian is to be measured by the
fidelity with which he adheres to this
supreme standard. In this new dis
pensation a breach of the law of love is
sin equally with the violation of the
letter of the Jewish law. Apply this
principle to the home life of the Chris
tian, and you at once touch the root of
the difficulty in domestic infelicity.
The husb&na or the wife who continu
ally commits acts of discourtesy in the
privacy of the house circle, or indulges
habitually in cross words, or who per
sists in thoughtlessness or neglect, is
guilty of sin equally with one who
breaks the Sabbath, and perhaps in the
eye of God has committed tli6 deeper
wrong. Certainly such a one is not
living the Christian life, since the life
is not animated by the spirit of Christ.
For “the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy,
peace, long suffering, gentleness, good
ness, faith, meekness, temperance;
against such there is no law.” Let
these blessed qualities be enshrined in
the home life and domestic infelicity will
be cured. Let each party be eager in
the pursuit of happiness of the other,
and individual grievances, trials and
vexations will be forgotten in the ardor
of the new devotion, provided that the
whole soul be concentrated in the single
purpose at whatever cost, and that effi
cient aid be sought from the God of
Love. Failure in this work is a failure
in the Christian life, and should be
recognized while succe3B is worth more
than all the mere professions in the
world.—Alliance.
A Miser’s End.
New liavcn Palladium, June 28 ]
Marvin Banning, of Hadlyme, a miser

ample fortune before reaching the age
of fifty: He said he never had time to
look for a wife and he lived alone, his

Success in the Stock Market.
Few people understand how large
fortunes are amassed so rapidly in
stock operations. Messrs. Lawrence &
Co., bankers, N. Y„ haye just published
“two unerring rules tor success,” ’ and
full details, bo that any one can operate.
Mailed free. Their new combination
system of dealing in stocks is wonder
fully profitable. By this method thou
sands of orders, in various sums, are
pooled into one immense capital, and
co-operated as a mighty whole, thus se
curing to each shareholder all the ad
vantages of vast capital and best skill.
Profits divided every 30 days. $15
would make $75 profit, $100 would re
turn $1,000, or 10 per cent, on the stock
in the month, and so on, acoording to
the market. A New York fashion ed-
iti vestment,
Many others are doing as well or bet
ter. Large or small amounts can be
used with equal proportionate success
by this system. All kinds of stocks
and bonds wanted. Government bonds

The death is announced of Maj-Gen..
the Right Hon. §ir Larcom, Bart., who
form- " " •* **
in
U ilUU,
• held the post of . Under Secre-
jlreland. So important is the
post that Sir Robert Peel once declared
in the House of Commons that Ireland
was governed by ‘Larcom and the po
lice.’ The under Secretary is a perma
nent officer, who always resides in the
? leasant official residence in the Phoonix
ark, Dublin, where also the Viceroy
and the Chief Secretary have their
abodes. He has a 'great voice in the
Executive, being always on the spot
and thoroughly posted. His emolu
ments are worth, altogether, some $15,-
000 a year, aud he has a handsome pen
sion, but the position ie onerous and re
sponsible.
The New York correspondent of the
New Orleans Democrat, in a gossipy
letter, says of the effect of the free qui
nine bill passed by Congress: “Powers
& Weightman, of Philadelphia, the
great manufacturing chemists, who
nave made from fifteen to twenty mill
ions out of quinine, backed up by the
import tax, telegraphed to their agents
here yesterday not to purchase any
more bark on their account, as they in
tended to renounce the manufacture of
the drug altogether, not being able tn
compete with foreign production.”
Peter Igo, of Lawrerce, Mass., was
very poor and very prond. Being out
of work and money, he did not make
his plight known, but fed his wife and
child on bread and water, and went
without any food at all himself. A
messenger who went to tell him of a
chance for work, found him dead from
starvation.

A GOOD PLAN
A nybody can learn to make money
tepidly operating in Stocks by the “Two
Unerring Rules for Success” in Messrs. Lawrencs
A Co.’s new circular. The combination method,
which this firm has made so successful, enables
people with large or email moans to reap all the
benefits of largest capital and best skill. Thou
sends of orders, in various sums, are pooled into
one vast amount and co-operated as a mighty
whoio, thus securing to each shareholder all the
advantages of tho iargost operator. Immense
profits are dividod monthly. Any amount ftom
$5 to $5,000, or more, can bs used successfully.
N. Y. Baptist Weekly, September 2fith, 1878, says
” By the combination system $15 would make
$75, or 5 per cent.; $50 pays $350, or 7 per cent.;
$100 makes $1,000, or 10 percent, on the stook
during tho month, according to the market.”
Frank Leslie’s Illustrated Newspaper, June 29th:
“ The combination method of operating stocks is
the most successful ever adopted.” New York
Independent, Bept. 12th: “ The combination sys
tem is founded upon correct business principles,
and no person need bo without an Income while
it is kept working by Messrs. Lawrence A Co.”
Brooklyn Journal, April 29th: 11 Our editor made

REMARKABLE CURE OF SCROFULA, ETC.
CASE OF COL. J. C. BRANSON.
Kingston, Ga., Sept. 15,1871.
Gents : For sixteen years I have been a great
sufferer from Scrofula in its most distre.aln,
forms. I have hoen oonfinod to my room am
bed for fifteen years with scrofulous ulcerations.
The most approved remedies for suoh caaoa had
been used, and the most eminent physicians
consulted, without any deoidod benefit. Thus
prostrated, distressed, desponding, I was advised
by Dr. Ayer, of Floyd county, Ga, to commence
the use of your Compound Extract Stillingia.
Language is as insnfficiont to desoribe tho relief
I obtained from the use of the Stillingia as It is
to convey an adequate idea of the intensity of
my suffering before using your medicine; suffi
cient to say, I abandoned all other remodios and
continued the use of your Extract ot Stillingia,
until I ean say truly, " I am cured of all pain,”
of all disease, with nothing to obstruct the active
pursuit of my profession. More than eight
months have elapsed slnoe this remarkable ouro
without any return of the disease.
For the truth of the above statement, I refer
to any gentleman in Bartow county, Ga, and to
the members of the bar of Cherokee Oireuit, who
are acquainted with me. I shall ever remain,
with the deopest gratitude,
Your obedient servant,
J. 0. Branson, Att’y at Law.

pieoes of bone began to work out of the right
arm, und continued to appear till all the bone
fi-om the elbow to the shoulder joint came out.
Many pieoes of hone came out of the right foo:
and leg. The case was then pronounoed one of
White Swelling. After having been confined
about six years to hsr bed, and the oase consid
ered hopeless, I was induced to try Dr. Pember

so well satisfied with its effects that I have con
tinued the use of it until the present.
My daughter was confined-to her bed about
six years beforo she eat up or oven turned over
