natorial and Congressional Conventions

us that a Justice of the Peace in that place, had.

RICE.—The fair demand noticed in our last
has continued during the present week, and the
sales sum up 720 tierces, viz.: 240 inferior at
$34 a $3450 at $3 15 16, and 430 at $4J per
hundred pounds. The stock on sale continues
very light. The exports for the week amount to
696 tierces, the greater portion of which went
coastwise.
FLOUR.—The transactions have been con
fined to the sale of small lots at previous rates.
The stock on hand is equal to the demand. YVe
quote Baltimore brands at $5,50 a $5,624 per
barrel.
CORN.—There have been no sales of impor
tance during the week, the transactions beinu
confined to the retail trade Prices are nominal.
H.JY.—The demand for this article has been
fair, and a considerable amount has changed
hands. YVe hear of sales of prime Eastern at
$1,374 per hundred pounds. Northern is quoted
at $1.20 a $1,25 per hundred pounds.
BACON.—A limited busines has only been
done in this article. The market is well supplied,
and prices are unchanged. VVe continue lormer
quotations: Shonlders at 74 a 8 cents per lb;
5'idesat 9 and Hams at 12 a 13 cts.
SALT —Since our last there have been no
importations of this article, in lots it is selling
at $1 per sack, and from store at $1,124 per sack
DIME.—This article continues scarce and in
Jetnand. It is selling from store by retail at
$1.75 per cask. The last cargo sold at $1,374
per bbl.
MOLASSES —The cargo received during
tie week from Cuba, has not been sold, and is
discharging. YVe hear ot sales of New Orleans
at 30 cents per gallon.
