Tkintos, Gibson Co., Tenn. flov. 7, '49.
Messrs. Scbvil & Mead—Gentlemen t The
Hebrew Plaster is besoming popular ie this sec
tion. There is a lady in this county who says
she would not be without this Plaster for $500
a year. 5he was afflicted for some time with au
enlargement of the Spleen which gave her a
great deal;of,pain. The swelling and pain had
extended up nearly to the aernpit, and occasion
ally she could scarcely breathe. She was eon-
fined for a considerable length of time, during
which she was attended by some of onr best
physicians, bnt they gave her no relief. She
procured a bos of Hebrew Piaster, and itreliev-
ed her.almost immediately, and uow she keeps
a supply of it on hand constantly. These facts
you are at liberty to use as you think proper—
they are subntantially true.
Respectfully,yours. &c.,
JESSE J. WELLS.

FAMILY PHYSIC.
Tunis has long existed a public demand tor as
effective purgative pill which could be relied sa at
■ure and perfectly safe in its operation. This tea
been prepared to meet that demand, and an as ten
sive trial of its virtues has conclusively shown with
what success it accomplishe* the purpose designed.
It is easy to make a physical pill, but not enay te
make the best of ail piiu—one which should teas
none of the objections, but all tbe advantages, *f
every other. This has been attempted here, aad
with what success we would respectfully submit ta
the public decision. It has been unfortunate ht
the patient hitherto that almost every pnrgatin
medicine is acrimonious and irritating to the ten
ds. This is not. Many of them produce so mad
piping pain and revulsion fir the system ae to same
than counterbalance the good to be derived tam
them. These piile produce so irritation or pate
unless it arise from a previously existing ctetru*.
tkm or derangement in the bowels. Being mb
vegetable, no harm can arise from their use a sag
quantity; but it is better that any mediates dteM
be taken judiciously. Miauta directions for then
use iu the several diseases to which they aw mb
plicable are given ou the box. Among the eta*,
plaints which have been speedily cured by them, wt
may mention Liver Complaint, in its various form
of Jaundice, Indigestion, Languor and Dias ef Ap.
petite, Listlessness, Irritability, Bilious Haadaate,
Bilious Fever, Fever and Ague, Para in th* Sdt
and Loins; for, in truth, all these are but th* can-
sequence of diseased action in the liver. Am an
aperient, they afford prompt and sure relief in Cea-
trveness, Files, Colic, Dysentery, Humor*, Scrcf-
ala and Scurvy, Colds with soreness of the bade,
Ulcers and impurity Of th* blood; in short, say
and every case where a purgative is required.
They nave also produced some singularly *■*-
cessful cures in Rheumatism, Gout, Dropsy, Gravtl,
Erysipelas, Palpitation of tbe Heart, Pain* in tte
Back, Stomach, and Side. They should be freely
taken m the spring of the year, to purify th* Used
and prepare tbe system for the change of asaasw.
An occasional dose stimulates th* stomach md
bowels into healthy action, and restores th* ia»
tite and vigor. Thay purify the Mood, and. by Ute
atimulant action cri the circulatory system, ism
vato th# strength of the body, and restore the
wasted or diseased energies of the whole ergaaim.
Hence an occasional dose is advantageous, am
though no actions derangement exists; but va*
necessary dosing should never be carried toe te,
S3 every purgative medicine reduces the strvsgfo,
when taken to excess. The thousand casae ia white
a physic is required cannot bs enumerated her*, tel
they suggest themselves to the reason of evwv
