Mr. John Massey, we regret to learn, acci
dentally shot himself in the hand, the other
tlay. inflicting a painful, wound. No bones
were broken, however, and the wound is
fast healing.

One of the oldest and most successful
planters of this county, says he has not seen
so promising a corn crop since the war as at
the present time. The cotton plant is small,
but the stand is good.

Miss Julia Warthen, an accomplished
young lady of our city, has become one of
the assistant teachers in the Sandersville j
High School. A good selection, and one that
will give universal satisfaction.

The Trustees purpose paying a visit to the
Sandersville High School this (Friday) after
noon at 3 o’clock. Look out girls; don’t let 1
the boys beat you spelling. And the same, ■
to you boys; only beat them if you can.

A good man gone.—Mr. Alfred Corsey, an ■
old'and much beloved citizen of this county, ,
died on the lath inst. For a quarter of a :
century he has been one of the strong pillars ;
of the Baptist church at Mineral Springs, ;
and his loss will be deeply felt.
