On Wednesday morning wo arrived iu

Sparta is a handsome place, with well laid
out streets, especially the main business
sti-'et, with its handsome brick stores, and
the imposing looking Edward's House, where
our del. gatiou took tip its quarters for tin
day. It is a matter of surprise to strangers,
that the good old county ot Hancock, famous
for the intelligence ol her citizens, and the
examples which she in her day, has sot to
the Agriculturists of Georgia, possesses such
au insignificant looking Court-house. Kureh
there ought to he no lack o! public spirit
among her citizens, when it is in the powci
ol one, of her many wealthy men alone, to
advance the funds necessary lor tlie erection
of a Court-house commensurate with tlie im
portance of Hancock county, and who could
then bo reimbursed, by annual payment
running through several years, from the tax
atiou oi tlie county. Soon alter our arrival
