Fight Over Lawsuit.
Montgomery, Ala., May 9.—»News
comes from just outside of the city
that Daniel Rornell, shot and badly
wounded Robert Suggs, about a law
suit. Both are prominent planters.
It Is not known yet if Suggs is fatally
hurt. Officers have been sent from
the sheriff's office to make arrests.

Rev. N. II Olmslead, brother-in-law
of Mr. W. R. Beach of this city, pastor
of Smithvillc. So. Ga. Conference, will
preach Sunday evening. Mr. Olmstead
was sometime pastor in Washington
county and his many friends as well as
the church will take pleasure in hearing
him.

Roosevelt has appointed the following
postmasters:' L. B. Murphy, at Al
ma, Ark.; Claude R. Ferguson, at
Huntington, Ark.
Mrs. F. J. Garbutt has returned from
a visit to Birmingham Ala , and Meri

Miss Mamie Sparks is expected to
return Monday from a visit to her
brodter,Mr. Andrew Sparks of Atlanta.
Mrs. Julia Martin, who lias been
quite ill for some time, is now recover
ing and has been moved from her borne
in East Sandersville to the residence
of her daughter. Mrs. S. J. Adams.
Miss Alice Moses who lias been the
guest or Mrs. Henry Paris left yester
day for her home in Columbus.
Among the out of town relatives who
were in the city Tuesday and Wednes
day to attend the funeral rites of Mr.
I‘ 11. McCarty were his wife and child
ren. Henry, Frances Oznolu and Wil
liam of Moultrie, Mrs. W. H. McMilliun
and children, Marian and Mary Alice
of Atlanta, Mrs. Nellie Bresmihan of
Augustn Dr. G. S. McCarty of Atlanta
Misses Ella and Grace McCarty of
