ANOTHER VIEW.
Who knows but that the supply of
currency got. short a few weeks ago
because the members of the Farmers’
Union said they wanted Inc for their
cotton and would hold until they got
that price?
Grim necessity will force people to
do a great many t hings that they pre
fer and intend not to do, and it is not
an exaggerated supposition that the
rich clique in the Knst who need cot
ton determined to get it at lower price
than the farmers decided they would
sell it. One way to do it was to allow
southern hankers and cotton buyers to
get, as little money ns possible, and
thus to cause a stagnation in the move
ment of cotton and a resultant fall in
price of the staple. In this way they
believed tiie farmers would be brought
to terms and forced to sell their cotton
at a sacrifice,
The Farmers’ Union has grown so
Btrong that it lias become inimical to
the interests of the cotton speculators.
Its presumption in setting a price on
cotton was intolerable to the men who
have been manipulating the market
in such a way as to make it sell at what
figure they desire in order to make a
good profit for themselves.
It would not he surprising if the ef
fort of the southern farmers to get i
fair price for their cotton has not play
ed a very important part in producing
this unparalleld tightness of money in
times of prosperity.
And if tliis is ntrue explanation of the
trouble there is a greater reason than
ever that the farmers Union should not
recede an inch from its position.—Dub
lin Times.
flic newspapers carried the pleasing
announcement Tuesday that the gov
ernment had come to the rescue by a
proposition to issue one hundred thou
sand dollars in treasury certillcatesand
fifty millions of Panama canal bonds.
Hut while this announcement carries
satisfaction to the thousands of citizens
who have been anxiously watching for
an end of the financial crisis, and while
of course, there arc hut few who will
fail to approve the plan because it
promises quick and general relief, yet
it is unfortunate that the governments
aid will not remove the cause of panics
and that conditions arc such that a
panic can occur in the midst of abun
dant crops and favorable conditions
and there will be much for congress to
do to bring about such a change in the
laws ns will lessen the chances of such
a crisis occurring again.
There is not much talk of bond deals
and cheap money and credit or asset
currency now—that is, in tiie way of
criticism, because the people are wel
coming any show of relief and one
dangermny be that we may go too far
in applying a remedy.
However, for the present, everybody
welcomes the temporary relief and the
promise of better conditions and par
ticularly the farmers of the south who
have had lo pay so much for their labor
and supplies and who have been offer
ed so little, comparatively, for their
cotton.
The lack of money lias certainly been
largely the cause of the cheap price of
cotton and the lack of confidence has
produced a very unusual and very ex
traordinary condition.
But already business is growing
brighter and better nnd until ways and
means can he provided to restore con
fidence permanently, all will welcome
the relief afforded by the notion of the
government;

Congress meets next month and it is
to he hoped that such wise and beneii
cial measures will he discussed nnd
adopted as will restore confidence and
relieve the present conditions.
The amount of business being done
in Sandersville shows that there is no
lack of confidence so far us this county
is concerned, however much our farm
ers may he disappointed in the present
price of cotton.
THE CHRISTMAS ISSUE.
We have already begun work on the
Christmas special edition of Tin: lli:n-
Ai.n which will'be issued about the
eighteenth of December and the work
of preparation has progressed far
enough to give our readers gome idea
of what it will he.
First of all, the paper will appear in
a Christmas magazine cover, which
will he attractive and which will please
the little folks, and we hope the older
people as well, because we should not
forget to take part with them in the
joys and pleasures of Christmas time.
Of course we shall have the picture
of Bantu Claus himself from his very
latest photograph, and some illustrat-’
ed Christinas stories by the best of
writers and worthy to he read by old
and young alike.
Besides, there will he other interest
ing pictures and reading matter and
the news of the county, and altogether
will require that we issue a larger pa
per than ordinarily.
We will send out more than two
thousand copies and will reserve a few
for saie in the office, the proceeds of
which will go to some of the poor
somewhere.
We do not hope to make as much
money on the special edition as the
usual edition pays us, though of course
the advertising rate will he made
higher than the regular rate charged.
in this special Christinas issue we
propose to have much that is worthy
so be read by any member of the fam
ily and along with it we will send each
of our friends a sincere good w ish for a
very happy Christmas.

THE FOREIGN SPINNERS.
T he foreign cotton spinner sees his
opportunity now. during our brief
financial trouble, and 1ms begun send
ing in large quantities of gold to buy-
up cheap cotton in the south, while
our own spinners are powerless to get
tiie money to lay in their supply. This
will give tiie foreign spinner a great
advantage over our home spinners
thanks to tiie political agitator who is
at all times pulling down rather than
building up. Sixty million dollars has
already been sent over and much more
will follow.
Eight million dollars reached New-
York bank vaults on Wednesday, and
more is on the way. Ail this shows
how much damage can be done a peo
ple by malicious und pernicious legis
lation.
No man may expect to escape the
same punishment who seeks to drag
down the value of his neighbors lands,
and the sooner we learn that we are
indeed hrotiiers—one people and with
the same destiny, the better.—Rome

“I had eczema nearly fifteen years.
The affected parts were my hands, arms
and legs. They were the worst in the
winter time and were
always itchy, and I
could not keep from
scratching them, t
had to keep both
hands bandaged all
the time, und at night
I would have to
scratch through th®
bandages as the itch
ing was ty> severe, und
at times I would have
to tear everything off
my hands to scratch
the skin. I could not
rest or sleep. I had
several physicians
treat me but they
could not give me a
permanent cure, nor
even could they stop
the itching, After
