In Memoriam.

- Oconee, Cla., Jan - 9, 1008.
Sister Izora Gertrude Snell,
daughter of Mr. Maxie and Mrs.
Sallio E. Swell, departed this'.life
for one above on Christmas day
1907, and was quietly^ft-id to rest
in her old church yard at Antioch
Dec. 20, 1907. Funeral services
were conducted in the presence of
a large crowd of relatives and
friends by ltev. T. G. Linkous.
Sister Snell was born Nov. 11,
1889, and from childhood to young
womanhood was always obedient
and. kind. She never gave her
parents a cross word during her
life, nor did she ever try to shirk
duty, but always did cheerfully
whatever her hands found to do.
She united with Antioch Chris
tian church, Oconee, Ga., Aug.
l{j, 1902, and was baptized by
Bro. Chas Miller and was a faith
ful and loyal member until the
death angel carried her above.
She entered the High School in
Sandersville in the fall of 19055
and continued until her gradua
tion the past June. During her
school work she is 'eaid by her
teachers never to have broken a
rule, nor was she ever reproved.
Her mark was of the very highest
possible order, and she graduated
with high honors.
Sister Izora never lost an op
portunity of going to church. She
often went three times a day.
During her school work in Sau-
dersvillo she was a member of her
own Sunday school and of the
Baptists, as they met at. different
hours, thus showing her unselfish
ness, and was true to both. She
was also a faithful member of the
Christian Endeavor Society, pre
siding with dignity, and always
“ready to do anything She could to .
advance the cause of Christ.
She is not dead but living up j
higher. While it was sad to part,
with her, we sorrow not as those
without hope. Memory will lin
ger a long £ime in the hearts of
the devoted parents and loving
sisters of the life which was cut
off so young and tender. She will
not be soou forgotten by any who
knew her.
And now I would say to the
dear bereaved parents, aged grand
mother and ioved ones, look up;
lay those torn and bleedihg hearts
at the feet of the blessed Master
to whom the precious spirit has
been gently borne upon angel’s
wings and where alone consolation
and comfort can be found. Think
not that the life of one so patient
and tender, even though brief,
was lived in vain or will fail to
bring forth fruit; for even though
she is dead to us she still lives,
not only above, but in the hearts
and lives of those who knew her.
Do not mourn her loss or, grieve
to give her up, for the Master had
use for her in those beautiful
realms beyond where if faithful
to Christ and His church you will
all meet her. Our loes is her gain
and wo should not grieve after her
but determine to meet her in the
“sweet bye and bye.” As all has
been done for her that kind‘hands
could do we will leave her to awuit
the resurrection morn.
A Friend in Christ.
