BRYAN-KERN RALLY
TO BE BIG AFFAIR
Joseph M. Brown Writes
of “Roosevelt’s
Policies.”
There will be n big Bryan and
Kern rally, in Atlanta to night
lit 8 o'clock under the ftiiepioes
of the Fulton Comity Young
Men’s Democratic League.
Prominent among the speakers
will be Senator A. S. Clay, («ov-
ernor Hoke Smith and Clark How*
ell, national committeeman.
The following communication
has been received by Aldmo
Chambers from Joseph M. Brown,
Democratic nominee for govern
or:
“Hon. Aldino Chambers Presi
dent.
“Answering your favor of Au
gusts, relative to the rally op 21st
instant, will state that I am deep
ly appreciative of the courtesy
shown me by the Young Men’s
Democrat ic Leagu** through your
committee.
“However, 1 had already ar
ranged tot go through part of north
Georgia and western North Caro
lina, hence will bo unavoidably
absent from the state on the date
of tin* proposed rally.
“The news from the different
sections of the country seem to
indicate a victory for us in Nov
ember, and 1 join you in sincere
wishes that this gratifying result
may ensue.
“I trust that in Georgia we
may live up to our platform of
good will and discard the effects
of crimination and recrimina
tion in the ranks of our party.
“Let me, before closing, how
ever, suggest the following
thought ns being worthy the con
sideration of meeting: Mr. Taft,
the Republican nominee for presi
dent, 1ms given us his letter if
acceptance of the nomination. In
that letter lie has pursued the
usual coarse of nominees in sub-
cribing to his party's platform;
but he has introduced one novel
feature, namelv: He refers in
several places to ‘President Roose
velt’s.’ He lauds these policies
most highly and seems to think
that they are to he perpetuated
because they are‘President Roose
velt’s policies ’ This is some
what a new doctrine to ho placed
before Americans.
“The people do not like a ‘me,
too or‘residuary legatee’ policy.
They expect a man w ho stands for
himself. The counterfeit is never
ns good a? the orginnl for the pur
pose for which it was mnde. If
we must have either, lot us lm\e
the original; but in the ense in
question let us have neither.
When the people choose on execu
tive they liftv 11 the right to demand
that lie have his own head on his
shoulders and that his adminis
tration, while executing their as
certained will, have its own indi
viduality. The policies which lie
upholds during his term of ad
ministration shall be the people’s
policies. If the Democrats
handle this phase of the grpnt
controversy between the parties
with the skill it merits, it will be
worth thousands of votes to t hem.
If they will apply throughout the
Union the question which rang
out from Lincoln, Nebr., aud
which had already been many of
force locally, namely: “Shall
the people rule?” we can iudeed
confidently look forward to#a re
sult which will gratify all pat
riots. Very truly yours,
“J-'skph M. Bhown.

Baby Tonic Digestive
is what the baby needs when
fretful, restless and suffer
ing from indigestion and dis
ordered stomach.
It is the result of many
years experience in the treat
ment of babies and is a tri
umph in this line, because it
brings relief, ease and com
fort and contains absolutely
no opiates or other harmful
drug. The youngest infant
can take it with safety and
it will relieve the older chil
dren as well.
In this warm weather
mothers will find it an in
valuable remedy because the
cases of indigestion are apt
to bo more severe and it is
important to take care of the
digestion.

GOODMAN'S I
RUBY FLOUR.
Many years experience in the Grocery business
finally led us to select this brand as the very highest
grade of Flour manufactured and we do not believe
it can be equalled at the price anywhere in the city.
Because it makes more bread than inferior brands
and is made from sound and selected wheat and
each sack is guaranteed.
There is very little profit in it to me, but one
trial of it makes a permanent customer and it is for
this reason this best brand was chosen.
