circumstances. After school, she. in company

The iirnh ol a tree whi- li projected over tlie

by a companion, after having sunk twice. This
should be a warning to school teachers, parents

Telegraph Office in ialbotton ! -Why
could we not have one ? Will not President
Orton ot the the Western and Union give us a
branch line from Gen va to Taibutton '{ It
could be made to pay very handsomely, us a
great deal of business would be transacted by
the mercantile l'rat r.iity, that is now conducted
through the medium of letter writing.
Would it not be leasibie to raise the amount
required, say five hundred and liars lor the entire
outfit, bv individual subscription in a joint stock
company ? The expense is small and the bene
fits to accrue are vast and should not be passed
without a serious effort on our part. Let us try.
Who will move? Sta:t the ball and give us a
telegraph line to Talbotton.

About a year ago we adopted the exclusive
Cash System, nnd offered a reward ot one thous

could buy one dollar’s worth of goods from us
on Credit. Money was scarce and times were
hard ami many predicted our early demise. We
are glad to state that since that time our busi

from parties who have seen and felt the evil ot
the credit system, ami like good and true men
are lending*their aid and influenceinjerushiug a
most pernicious system, which threatens the
bankruptcy, not only of individuals, but the
entire country.
We have numerous customers now, who, pre

are good, honest, sensible m*n, men who know
how to appreciate the value ol a dollar, and want
to get value received tor it. Th ;y com**, and de

include twenty-five per cent, for bad debts,
which is always a*hh and by merchants who sell ou
time, to cover their losses by parlies who never
pay. . , ,
Now we are desirous of increasing our already
long list of customers, and we think we can
make it to your interest to trade with us. Our
stock will always be the largest in the place, and
while there are many goods which are sold very
close by ail merchants, we can stxlely guarantee
a saving upon a general bill of from twenty to
thirty per cent, in purchasing from us.

Messrs. Junes & Baxter :
Gents, - The Chesapeake Ooano which you sold me has again given entire satisfaction. It is now
the third year I have tried it, and I can unhesitatingly say that I consider it the ticst Fertilizer in
use, and I have tried a great many. This year 1 tried it side by side with the celebrated aud high
priced Stonewall Guano, applying of each 150 pounds to the acre, aud I can see no difference in
the result one is uo better than the other, in my judgment W. H. SEARCY. *
