| On last Tuesday morning wo left Tail) >t
| foil in onr hnggy for an overland trip to
Th maston and Barnesvdle. The first o!
these enterprising Georgia towns lies 21
miles North-east of Talbotton, is the county
site of Epson county and is connected by a
branch road with the M. A W. U 11., at
Barnesville. Thomaston is a live town in a
business and social point ot view and to tl c
stranger its gates are thrown wide open and
as the weary traveller nears its portals, ho
is impressed with the hospitality ot its (‘lev
er citizens. It is not more than eight miles
from the line of Talbot and it enj vs a good
patronage from our county. Tt is lined
for its splendid cotton iuarKe‘. There
are several large mercantile establishments
in this beautiful little city, some of whom
propose to give our people a little talk
through the advertising columns of tin
Standard from time to time. Many ot onr
folks are carrying their cotton to Thomas-’
ton on account ot its superior advantages
as a cotton market. Among the enterpris

Plot. Lambdin is one of the best diveipli
nariaiiß now engaged in teaching. Ho has
here a school of about one hundord ui and
seventy five pupils who are under tho most
perfect control. The school Is a mixed one
