Q nitations 19b
We noticed on Tuesday night, in the
yellow moon light on North Square, an
affectionate gentleman hugging a china
tree.
Rev T. II Stout arrived with his family
on Saturday last, took charge of his Church,
and begin the exercises of the Female High
School on Wednesday morning.
Delicate.—Our cotemnorary of the Con
stitution grows poetical on polly wogs,
picks up a dainty kid glove and proposes
brokerage in hearts.
Reap the advertisement of Mrs. E L
Callier, who desires a skilled Mantua Ma
ker, and you will find out where to get
employment.
We had quite a pleasant call on Tuesday,
from Col. John F. Redding, a promising
young lawyer of Barnesville. lie was
visiting Thomaston in the interest cf his
clients.
W. S. OLIPIIANT is now receiving a
complete stock of Notions, Fancy end Staple
Dry Goods, Hardware, etc. nov-4tf.
The Arkansas J mrnal of Education, a
valuable work, still comes at its regular
time to our sanctum. Just one article,
“The Swiss Schools,” is worth the January
number.
Kino & Allen have just received 100
bushels Seed Oats and 16,000 Lbs. of Fb>ur,
all grade*, which they will sell like all
other groceries, cheap for cash. jan2o-tf
Ye«terdat was quite a serious day with
the rabbit family. We saw little Charlie
Wallace with an arm full on the street and
asked him how many had been killed, lie
•aid the crowd had not all come in—when
they were all brought in he thought there
would be about one hundred.

We are pained to announce the death of
little Willie, son of Rev. W. J. Morcck.
lie had the misfortune to fall from a mnle
and lived unit nine days thereafter. His
spirit is doubtless in the abode of the blest.
Our heartfelt sympathy and condolence is
tendered the bereaved parente.
Thomaston is still tramping the path of
progress. We notice Mr. F. M. Perryman
and Mr. John Caraway have gotten up the
frame work of their new residences in the
eastern portion of town. Lumber is being
brought in to erect other new buildings on
the Square.
We are glad to say that Thomaston has
no loafers or vagrants,
OLIPII ANT’S is the place to buy your
Medicines, Drugs. Dye Stuff. Paints, Oils,
«fco., for you can buy them right from him.

W e have received a copy of the "Georgia

an Illustrated Agricultural paper, and
merits a liberal patronage. Our farmer

Mr. N. A. Son has just opened his stock
of goods in the room formerly occupied bv
Dr. Sawyer, where he will he found until
the new store on South Square is completed.
He has a nice assortment of goods and will
bo glad to show thorn to all parties coming

We deem it our duty to call the attention
of the Citv Council to the disturbance and
disorder recently, in the form of dog fighting
on the streets. During the past week we
have seen on the streets quite a number of
little b *ys and “phiste” dogs, occasionally
disturbing the public Square with a yelling
and gnashing of teeth worse than a “pan
ther with a grindstone on his tail.”
Tiie Phrenol gical Journal for Febru
ary has arrived and contains much impor
tant matter. One who likes to study and
know something of phrenology cannot get
a better work. ‘ Follow your Nose” “Pro
gress of Phrenolegv,” “How the Different
Faculties Combine,” are some of the im
portant contents of this number. Send for
it. you will not regret it.
Mortons’ M >ntuly. —We are greeted this
week with Mortons’ Monthly lbrnie and
School Journal of Education. Every one
who desires to educate themselves and de
velop their mental parts should subscribe
for this work. Teachers especially would
be benefited The contents of the January
number are very valuable. This is the first
issue, having f >r its object, the education of
the masses. Send SL,SO to John P M non.
L >uisville, Ky., and read the work for one
year.
We call special attention to the adver
tisement of Messrs. Turley &, Boasev, un
der the head of new advertisemens. They
are general commission merchants, and
dealers in provisions of every kind, grab s,
shoes, leather, cotton yarns, domestics, and
keep constantly on hand, family groceries,
farming implements, and most anythiug
else you need in business.
Mr Turley is a Tennesseean and knows
where and how to supply your demands.
Find them wheD you go to Barnesville and
profit by trading wbth them.
Mr. B. N. Barrow, the agent for the
Florence Sewing Machine, is travelling
through the county showing and selling
that beautiful and substantial machine.
We have for months pass' and used one in our
family, and feel no hesitancy in saying that
in our judgment it is one of the best ma
chines in use. Mr. Barrow has for the past
few days sold quite a number, and now is
the time to purchase while he is selling on
fair and easy terms. Lay aside a little
money as he intends to at an early
date. In economising time and labor you
make money. Remember it and purchase
a machine. jat»2o-tf.
Be Careful. In these days, when tight
hats, hot air, and sedentary occupations,
cause the hair to fall out, it is a matter of
no little importance to know which of the
hair preparations are of any value. The
majority, as has been frequently proved by
the first dermatologists, or hair doctors,
possess little or no merit Such being the
fact, it is consoling to those who are afflicted
to know there is really one yoort article,
which is recommended and used by the first
medical authority, and has stood every test.

VEGETABLE SICILIAN HAIR RENEW

unquestionably the best preparation of the
kind now before the American public. It
will restore to gray hair its original color,
cleanse tbe head thoroughly, cure all erup -

the hair so long as any germ* remain, as
they almost invariably and», until extreme
old age ha* destroyed tbe roots. The orig

Nashua, N. U. Forney's Press. Jin 25,
On Thursday afternoon about 3 p. si., the
earth began to draw on her robe of spotless
white. Merry voices from all directions
exclaimed that it was snowing. The beau
tiful fleecy flikes wended through the
aerial depths to earrh, until after the mantle
of darkness hid been drawn around the
f mtstool of Omnipotence, ceasing when the
surface had been covered three inches.
Many miniature b ittles'were fought, in
which wh«te missile* were hurled by tiny
hands with tapering fingers, and instead of
shrieks ai.d groans and dving agonies,
merry laughs ar.d cheerful voices filled the
air. Among the casualties, the corner of
one coat tail was torn off, one watch
chain and hook broken up, one cravat dis
located.
Our Fireside Friend. —This is tbe name
of anew eight-page orignal and illustrated
story and family weekly, published bv
Messrs. Waters, Eberts & Cos., Chicago.
The paper presents a neat and plp.asing ap
pearance, and exhibits much taste in its
make-up. Its consents are varied, and rich
in interest and full of instruction. It con
tains well-written continued stories of great
interest, beautifully illustrated, and enter
taining short stories, ski tches, poems, etc.,
with deportments especially devoted to the
Farmer, the II u-ewife and Children. One
of the principal features of this number is
Will. M. Carleton’s great Poem “The
Burning of Chicago,” which the publishers
have beautifully illustrated. Our Firesid
Friend will find a wele >me in every family
circle The publishers will send a speci

tions the fact that more cases of whites,
suppressed and irregular menses and uterine
obstructions, <>f every kind, are being daily
cured, by Dr. J. Bradfield’s Female Regu
lator, than by all other remed es combined.
Its success in Georgia is beyond precedent
in the annals of physic. Thousands of
certificates frvun women everywhere pour in
upon the proprietor. The attention of
prominent medical men is aroused in behalf
of this wonderful compound, and the most
successful practitioners use it. Its action
is pleasant, quick and sure. If women
suffer hereafter it will be their own fault.
