city published a card returning thanks to
the school trustees of the city for their ex
cellent labor in their behalf during 1871.
They praise the efficacy of the educational
system adopted ; acknowledge the exigency
of 'he education of the colored race, aD(i
concludes : We are delighted to see many
of our native white citizens engaged in the
education of the colored people, and may it
not he long when the discriminat ion on the
[•art of both races shall cake its flight into
oblivion. A brilliant masquarade ball will
