On Saturday morning hist, the if hi instant, Pol. W. R. The origin «»( the. liie is not satis*- , factorily ascertained ; but is thought to have been accidental, as fire is known to lmve com municated from the machinery to the loose mot tan heretofore. The loss was partially covered bv insurance, as we are informed; hut to the operatives, who depended on t he factory for em ployment, the lots is irreparable. Some eighty or a hundred employes are left without work in mid winter, and while we sympathize with Col. Phillips in his serious loss, we feel much more deeply for the destitution of those whose employment was their all. [CovingtonEntcrprise. Enrieli Your Eumlh. The attention of planters is especially direct ed to the following certificate of the merit* of the Soluble Guano, advertised by Mr. -J. O. Mathewson, of Augusta, in another column of this paper : Kolublfe Pacific Guano. Sparta, Ga., Dec. 9 ( 1808. Mr. J. 0. Mathewson : Yours of the 20th of October lias been on hand for some time. I have been waiting to have my experiment plat picked out, weighed, and contrasted. Last year the Soluble Pacific Guano paid 402 per cent, on the investment ; the present year, 340 per cent. The experi ment plat of last year was reserved and planted again without any change or addition. The Soluble Pacific Guano produced the second Tear 190 per cent, on the investment after al lowing interest at 10 per cent, for two years. The two years cordoned, made f>ol per cent., while PacarUt n Guaffro nvade only 475 percent. The first year 355, the second ye:u 120 per cant. The two guanos combined, made the first year 432 per cent.: the second year, from the residuum in soil, 210 per cent., making 042 per cent, on investment for two years after paying interest. These experiment* are con ducted with conscientious precision, without fear, favor, or hope of reward, only as it may benefit the public and the experimenter, by indicating the cheapest and most reliable sources of Ammonia and Phosphoric Acid. — You will doubtless find in January number of the Southern Cultivator, a detailed report of mv experiments. A Wouderfni Southern Discovery. In the South where Liver complaint and bilious diseases prevail to so great an extent, there has long l cen felt a need of a medicine that would act specifically and promptly on the Liver, restoring it to its normal functions, and at tL * same time be safe from after effects, and yet so simple that it might be us. and by anyone. It is .daiim-d that DIE TUT US VEGETABLE LIVER PILLS supplies this want. They act directly on the Liver; their constant use will not injure in the slightest degree the most del icate constitution. Females at any period may use them with gro.it benefit, and realize great relief from the distressing nausea which they experience at certain times. These pills arc not recommended as a universal cure-all, but simply for diseased Liver, and tho.-e maladies which follow a derangement of that important organ, such as Dyspepsia, .Sick Headache, In digestion, l,oss of Appetite, Costive ness. Piles. Jaundice, S an* Sromach, Ladies’ Heartburn, Chill- and I‘Vver. Fold Breath, lb s; iesMiess at night, and Flatulency*.
