THE ADVERTISER. JORDAN E. WHITE, Local Editor. j W. C. WORUILL, Local Reporter. * THOMSON, GEORGIA. SATURDAY *DEC., 11, 1569 | Philadelphia and Atlanta Wine & I.iqn'r Company—~Whole?Be Dealers. Atlanta, La. Information for Our Friend*. AVe have been asked hv several of our friends who have become interested in the advertise ment of the Henderson Kentucky Prize «cheme whether it is similar, or likely to terminate as the St. L .uis PasAal House affair did, and we take this as the briefest method of answering one and all. Without doubt the Paschal House nffair terminated as a swindle ; and we have nothing but the most utter contempt for any one Who would be guilty of managing any en terprise as that was managed. But such a ter. mination of the Kentucky Scheme is stmply impossible, as both the Prizes and the binds ariiino from the sale of tieketsare in the hands of commissioners, who ar- bound by a most •irintrent charter to sec that all the condmons of the enterprise are fulfilled, before the owner of the property can obtain a dollar of the money. Our friends can therefore patronize the Sub me with every assurance that the whole will be conducted with the most perfect fairness to wards every ticket holder. A Disturbance- On the 3d inst., a young man giving Ins name as V. M. Moore from the vicinity of Augusta, laboring under the effects of mean whisky, got into a row with some freedmen near Conyers, in the course of which a negro named Abe Simms was shot slightly in the thigh, and two others, Cary and Tolison Carr said he abused *<'d heat them. He was ar rested and taken to Conyers for trial, but no one appearing to make oath to the charges against him, the prisoner was dismissed. R. M. A Stubborn’ Fact.—There is scarcely any disease in which purgative medicines are not more or less required, and much suffering might be prevented were they more generally used. In addition to an admirable medical treatise on the causes, prevention and cure of a great variety of diseases, it embrace* a large amount of Information Interesting to the merchant, the mechanic, the miner, the farmer, the planter, and professional man; and the calculations have been made for such meridians and latitude* as are most saltatde for a correct and comprehensive Na tional Calendar. The nature., usee, and extraordinary sanitary ef ects of HOSTETTER’S STOMACH BITTERS, the staple tonic and alterative or more than half the Christian world, are fully set forth In its pages, which are also interspersed with pictorial illustrations, valuable recipes for the household and farm, hu morous mccdotcs, and other instructive and amus ing reading matter, original and selected. Send for copies to the Central Man ufectorv, at Pittsburgh, Pa., or to the nearest dealer in HOSTETTEK'S STOMACH BITTERS. The BITTERS are sold in every city, town and village, and are extensively used throughout the entire ciy ilized world. COOKING STOVES. No n-ood housekeeper can afford to be without a Cook Stove. U saves labor, time, and trouble It saves labor, because any woman can do her ow n Cooking on a Stove, without the assistance of a Cook. This is a very important item in “ house hold economy.” It saves time and trouble, because cooking can be done on a stove in much less time, and with half the labor required by the old plan I would therefore, inform all who arc wanting Good Stoves, (for cookii g-or heating,) that I have a large stock of them on hand. I have the “ Stew art Cook Stove,” the “Great Benefactor,” and the “ Southern Gcin,” which are the best made. I have Grates, Tin Ware, Lamps, and House Furnishing Goods generally, in Markham’s Block, on Peachtree street, Atlanta, Ga. Give me a call. V_ lui J.WARLICK., MARRIED.
