A Box’* Idea or Heads —Heads are
of different shapes and sizes. They are
full of notions. Large heads do not al
ways hold the most. Some persona can
tell just what a man is by the shape of
hi* head. High heads are the best kind.
Very knowing people are called long
headed. A fellow that won’t stop for
anything or and body is called hot-head
ed. If he isn't quite so bright they call
him soft-headed ; if he won't be coaxed 1
nor turned they call him pig-headed.
Animals have very small heads. The j
heads of fools slant buck. When your
head is cut off you are beheaded. Our
liea«ls are all covered with hair, except
bald head*. There are barrel heads,
heads of sermons—and some ministers
used to have fifteen heads to ope sermon,
pin heads■heads of cattle, as the far
mer calls bis cows and oxen; head
winds; drum-heads; cabbage-heads; at
logger-heads; coma to a head; heads of |
chaph-M*; hrad bim off; head of the fam
ily; mid go ahead—but first be sure you
are right.
The New Orleand Heralds says ” the Ma-
Jef-fidheral commanding the' milltis of this
parish, General Lougstroet, was ordered by
Govenor Kellogg to take command of the
Metropolitan Brigade in the expedition to
St. Martinsville. The General declined to
obey the order, unless given a carte blanche,
to proceed in the affair according to his own
discretion, unless backed by United Slates
troops and no Stale troops.” ft adds that
“it is some relief of the general disgust
which Gonural Longstreet’s conduct hus ex
cited among his old friends, to know that he
refuses to pat himself under the command
of Kellogg."
