6." I’m a Good, Old Rebel. *
A CHANT TO TH* WILD WF.STKB N HMODT,
“JOE BOWES*.”
[Few of the Southern people, end partic
ularly of the Tetrana who followed the ban
ner of tbs “Lout Cause,” haTe the candor to
make the admission, and yet, if the troth
could be known, sentiment* very much like
those expressed in the following homely
doggrel are hid away under the thin cover
ing of lifUej/ in many Southern hearts. ]
0, I'm a good, old rebel.
Now, that's just what 1 am.
For this “Fair land of Freedom,”
I do not care a damn.
I am glad we “fit sgin it,”
I only wish we'd won,
I don’t want any pardon
For any thing l'v* done.
I hate the Constitution.
This great Ri»publie too,
I hate the Freedman's liuru',
In uniforms of blue,
I bate the nasty eagle,
With all his brag and fuss.
The lying, thieving Yankees,
I hate em wus and wns.
I hate tho Yankee nation,
And everything they do,
I hate the Declaration,
Os Independence.too;
I hate tile gloriole Union,
Tis dripping rmh our blood
I hate the striped banner,
I “fit” it alii could.
I followed old mass Robert,'
Four years, nigh about,
Got wounded in three places,
And starved at Pint Lookout,
I eotch the riHimatism
A campin’ in the snow.
But 1 lulled a chance of Yankees,
And I'd like to kill some mo'.
Three hundred thousand Yankees
Lie stiff in Southern dust:
We got three hundred thousand
Before they conquered us.
They died of Southern fever.
And Southern steel ami shot;
I wish they were three million
Instead of what we got.
- I can't take up my musket
And fight ’em any more,
But ain’t going to love 'em,
Now that is sartin' sure 1
And I don't want, sir, a pardon
For what I was and'am,
I won’t be rec instructed'
If d<r, may I be damned

ISIB
II BLOOD PURIFIER 11
Is the most powerful cleanser, strengthen
er and remover of Glandular Obstructions
known to Materia Medica.
It is specially adapted 4a constitutions
, “Worn down’’ and debilitated by the warm
weather of Spring and Summer, when the'
blood is not in active circulation, coase
| quently gathering impurities from sluggish
ness and imperfect action of the secretive
organs, and is manifested by Tumors, Erup
tions, Blotches, Boils, Pustules, Scrofula,-
Ac., Ac.
When weary and languid from overwork,
and dullness, drowziness and inertia take
the place of energy and vigor, the system
needs a Tonic to build it up and help the
Vital Forces to regain their recuperative
power.
In the heat of Summer, frequently the
Liver aud Spleen do not properly perform
their functions, the Uterine and Urinary
Organs are inactive, producing weakness of
the stomach intestines and a predisposition
to bilious derangment.
