THOMSON. - - GEORGIA.
WISE MD OTHERWISE.
The men who can’t laugh i* an animal and the
man wbq won’t is a deviL-Jun Bnxtn.
ONE BACHELOR OF MANY.
There’s oue thing to the ladies I plainly
wish to say.
I’m a n*an of no pretensions; I‘in fifty if a
day.
I’m neither gay nor amiable, I'm fussy And
I'm plain ; •
But, girls. yon needn't plot for me—all
plotting*! are in vain.
1 never the brightest eyes, and all their
witebery
la wasting aaamiticn, if its aim is hurting
xue;
I never see the reddest lips, I'm proof
agaitmt all swilos,
I rather think T‘m not the man for any wo
man a wiles;
I can sew on my own buttons, my stock
ing* I can mend,
And woman's hands about my room are not
what T intend
I want no knitted, netted tilings, no travel
ing bags nor wraps,
Ko slippers and no comforters, no painted
plaques, no caps.
1 buy the things that I require ; so, ladies,
hoar me say,
All such attention* spent on mo are simply
throwu away;
So shake your <mwt and give your gifts, be
wilder all you can.
But Juhl remember, if you pleas©, that / am
not the mao.
I've heard that tweuty-one old maids con
sider m* their “fat©*’’
A.nd clever widows. Uvo or six, that wish
with me to mate;
There’* pretty school-gtrhi who insist I must
have had “some loss,”
And sav I’m so “ romantic” when I’m only
tired or cross.
But, ladles, ull attention from this date I
hope will cease -,
The only .favor that I ask is to be left in
penes.
For I consider one thing suro as anything
can bo—
I will not marry any girl, and non© shall
marry iu.
That's just exactly what he said about a
year ago,
Now, if you could but see his rooms— they
are a perfect show
Of netted thing*, and knitted things, and
painted plaques and acreena,
Of photograph* of famous men, and Beau
ty’s liviug queens,
While on the hearth-stone sits bis wife—
file’s sweet and good, 1 know.
And if yen tell him of the words he said a
year Ago,
Ho uu-wors you without a bluah, 4 *Oh,
that** the usual way;
No one believes a single word old bachelors
may any;
Whoa the light angel cornea along, they'll
marry any day.'
Somebody hna disooverod that the on

A society exchange anys: “Lad ies

“Does your wife koop a pet ?" asked
Brigsby of Popinjny. “Well, I gnese
she does," was the reply. “She’e never

A Milwaukee druggist advertises that

It is a foilunut* thing that during the

“I hoar Gail Fisher, who left here a

Indianapolis, Did he marry well?"
"Oh, yes; he married well. He waa
well whon he married.” "No joking.

One of the wards of nation, living iu

his seat, astonished the good brethren

“I should think yon would be ashamed
of yourself to tight with a little boy half

“Do I look ershamod asked the boy.
